RIP Le Cellier, we'll miss you!

We've eaten at LeCellier many times and have always enjoyed our meals there. It is definitely not worth 2 TS credits and does not compare to any of the Signature dining restaurants we've been to. The only way we would consider using 2TS for LeCellier is if they changed the menu and if the tables weren't on top of one another. I'll miss the pretzel bread.

Just thinking out loud, but maybe this will lead to a QS or kiosk location. I can see lots of folks going for soup and pretzel bread.

I’m not sure I understand the huge difference between a 1TS and a 2TS meal. We pay out of pocket, because it’s way cheaper, but I’d really like to understand this. If something is a 2TS meal, why can’t you just pay OOP on a different night for dinner, maybe at a CS restaurant? Table service already takes up so much time (says the girl who has FOUR table service reservations for her upcoming three and a half day trip), it’s not like everyone has to use their TS credits evenly.

The huge difference is it costs you twice as much to eat at a 2 TS restaurant, lol. Sure you can use 2 credits and skip a meal elsewhere, or pay cash for the other meal...but the point is it will now cost you a lot more to eat at Le Cellier - one way or another, it'll cost you.

For the sake of illustration, let's say the 1 TS credit is "worth" $40. So currently, Le Cellier costs you $40 to eat (1 TS credit.) When they change it to 2 TS credits, it will cost you the equivalent of $80 to eat there. To my pocketbook, that is a BIG difference. Double. Twice as much. And if you use up 2 TS credit to eat an $80 meal there, you'll also have to come up with another $10-$15 to eat a counter service meal somewhere because you just lost a table service credit.

And even if you're not on a dining plan, sure, you can pay out of pocket, but the same expense-increase will be true...you will pay more OOP to eat at Le Cellier when it becomes 2 TS. The signature restaurants charge more for everything. Generally as much as 30-50% more, item by item. For example, the appetizers at 1 TS places often run in the $6-$10 range...at 2 TS places, the apps can run $10-$18. Entrees & desserts follow similar patterns.

It's worth one credit. Not worth the OOP price IMO. Not worth two credits either.

We are going 2/26-3/5. Hoping I can get an ADR for the 26thif not I will try for lunch depending on what's on the menu.

DH lets me pick EVERYTHING for our trip. ADR's, hotel, touring plans, etc. All he asks for is LeCellier and Ohana. Have to give him at least that!

I agree with the OOP cost. We pay OOP, & can eat at a signature restaurant for a few $ less than at Le Cellier. Their steaks are comparably priced. If they bring the quality more equal with the price, we may start eating there again. I am hopeful that will be the case. HBD is in a theme park & we think it's worth every penny. Give me food on par with HBD, & I'll be happy to pay LC prices + some. LC becoming signature will be a positive for those paying OOP, as is HBD, but I can see why those on DDP may not want to go there at 2TS credits.

I think we should hold off making any judgments about Le Cellier until we see exactly what they are going to do about the menu and food quality.

It seems to me like lunch will remain pretty much the same, but perhaps the change to signature status for dinner will come along with a significantly revised menu.

I agree. :thumbsup2 How does anyone know now what the menus will look like or what the hours will be next year? :confused3 Is it "worth" 2 TS now... I definitely think most folks would say no... and I expect management has thought of this :rolleyes1 So it would come as a real shock to me if there weren't changes. ;) In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to find it closed for a bit before in preparation for the switch.

We personally enjoy eating at Le Cellier whether OOP or DDP and are likely to continue... I'll reserve judgment on its "value" until I see what is actually on offer and the prices... I have a trip booked for March so I'll definitely want to try it and decide then.

I have to say I'm amused by the drama in some posts :lmao:

We loved Le Cellier, but it is not worth 2 TS credits IMO. We may go back for lunch but if the menu is limited I will not be going back.

I think one of the first things they do to justify the 2 ts is offer the surf and turf special again. Back in 2005 FD period I remember a lobster and filet combination that I'm sure was the best value for 1 ts meals in WDW. It makes alot of sense, due to the fact lunch is one ts and dinner is 2 ts, to withhold the the seafood portion during lunch. The surf and turf alone could easily justify a jump to a signature status.

I wouldn't count on lobster. There is only one 2 TS restaurant at WDW that offers it.

Well, I'm not surprised by the decision but it won't stop me from going to Le Cellier whether or not I use the dining plan for it.

And everyone needs to remember that what it is worth is what you would pay. For example, some people might buy a comic book for $200 grand while others think it is good for lining their bird cage. So the restaurant is only worth what it is worth to YOU. If you think it is worth 2 TS and you are on the dining plan, then it is worth it!

Not everyone loves the 'popular' or 'harder-to-get' restaurants and everyone has their own opinion of the restaurants. Don't worry about what others like, don't like, pay, or don't pay.

That's too bad. I won't be going back, 2 TS there is not worth it for me. Looks like my last meal there will be this November :(

You guys, it's ridiculous to say you won't be going back to a restaurant before you have any idea what they might be changing.

17 - I think they aren't going back because they will need to use 2 dining credits and they probably don't think it's worth it. They are right.

True, but who knows? Two years from now there may not even be a Dining Plan.

They could go back for lunch, that will still be 1 credit and there's still filet. For now. Of course we can't know what lunch will look like in 2011. And a lunch reservation is now going to become the most difficult reservation to get anywhere.

Well my trip to Le Cellier this October will probally be my last.

At Le Cellier, for the 1 TS, on the regular dining plan, the menu is a la carte: so does each person just get an entree and a dessert or is a side included?

If it's just the entree and the dessert I don't think I could part with 2 TS for it.

Thanks for any answers! :goodvibes

No sides on DDP unless they come with the entrees; you can't select an extra, separate side and have that covered.

Deluxe DDP also includes an appetizer but still no extra sides.

Brown Derby has always been two credits. Is it much different than Le Cellier? I don't think so:cool1:
