Backpacker reported missing
Sequoia and Kings Canyon national parks officials are asking the public for information about a hiker missing since Tuesday.
Gregory Raye, 52, (he was actually 50) of Campbell was on a solo two-week backcountry hike in Sequoia and Kings Canyon national parks and was expected to return on Aug. 27, but has not yet made contact with his family.
People who may have seen Raye between Aug. 14-28 are asked to call the park dispatch at 565-3196.

Hiking Fatality in Kings Canyon National Park
Gregory Raye, 52, (50 actually) the hiker missing in the Sequoia-Kings Canyon National Parks wilderness, was found today above 13,000 near the summit of Mt. Brewer in Kings Canyon National Park. An official cause of death is under investigation; however it appears he fell to his death while trying to reach the summit.
He was an artist (we have 2 of his paintings hanging in our house), a Son, a Dad, (young) grandpa, brother, nephew, uncle & cousin to many. DD remembers him as the "funny, good drawer".
He joined his Mom in heaven.
TIA
