How to make a Marine cry

DS Chris called from Camp Lejeune today. During the call, he mentioned that he wished he lived off base so that he could have pets. While listening, I wandered over and found his beloved cat, Coco, dead in his bed by the fireplace.

Chris and Coco have been together since Chris was seven years old. Sometimes I swear they have a psychic connection. Poor Coco just hasn't been the same since Chris left for boot camp last year, but would always perk up when Chris came home on leave. I'm so glad Chris was able to come home for Labor Day and Coco was able to spend a few more nights sleeping on his chest.

Anyway, I just had to post something in an attempt to make myself feel better. There is a big hole on our family tonight

I am so sorry about your beautiful Co-Co. I sure do know about the bonds between kids and their beautiful pets. My son and daughter think of our cats as their siblings that they talk to and share things with.
They truely are family. Atleast in our home.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Sorry to hear about your kitty. Anyone that has ever had a pet and even those who haven't know how difficult it can be. Pets are a part of your family. I lost my cat last Sept. who was 18. Hope you and your family are ok.

Made me tear up. We lost our kitty, Daily, March to renal failure, but she was only 7, and DH and my first pet on our own. I know how it feels.

I'm truely sorry about your families loss. I rememebr when we lost our "tigger", 18 years old and had finally used up his lives.... we thought it odd the old guy was out acting like a kitten the last week. Even killed a few gophers that week and felt good about it.
