Yes, Archie, of Betty, Veronica, Jughead and Reggie fame, will meet his end soon . . .

Don't read anymore unless you want spoilers. . . .

He's shot to death defending his gay friend from an assassination attempt.

They should do a really sad version of "Sugar Sugar" at his memorial.;)

Wow, I'm glad I read comics when they were just mindless fun. I have not read Archie or any other comic book in well over 20 years. They sure have changed!

Ditto! Jeeze louise. :headache:

It reminds me of the "very special episode"s of late 80s tv shows.

It's just the Life With Archie series. The regular Archie comics haven't changed.

How can they kill him off so violently in one series and still have him around in the other? :confused3
Same as how Spiderman and other heroes have like 6 different story lines! ;)

I love Archie but haven't read this story line yet. Honestly, I have no interest in reading something he isn't in so I probably won't start this series. :worried:

It was known that this specific series was started with the end-game being his demise. I've picked up a couple of issues Afterlife with Archie which is about what happens when Riverdale suffers a zombie outbreak.

Overall, a lot of comics have changed like video games, with the average reader being an adult. There are several comic book series that definitely not meant for children. For instance, The Walking Dead comic book series makes the TV series look tame in comparison.

While comics are no stranger to political/social issues (X-Men, for instance, was started as an allegory for the Civil Rights movement), it's happening more & more frequently these days. However, I'm not sure if the Archie series is the right vehicle for such serious matters.
