Riots in England

I agree with Luke, it's black, White, male and female, this has nothing to do with race or religion. it's just about causing as much trouble as they can get away with and stealing goods

Perhaps it evolved. I was just going by what I saw reported the first night which was the last time I really watched anything about it in detail. There was a lot of talk about past cases involving black citizens and the Metropolitan Police (Stephen Lawrence was mentioned) and the impression I got was it was very race based after the shooting.

Most of what I saw was in the first 3 or 4 hours of the rioting. It wouldn't be the first time the reporting was wrong or the situation changed as time went on.

Yep, that's now the thing, the people 'rioting' now are not 'rioting' for any reason. It's ultimately become gangs of ferals looting and stealing and causing trouble.

Apparently there are a fair few bands of vigilantes mobilising now to protect their areas, can't see it ending well

In no way am I going to justify what is going on there, but one has to remember that there is a root cause of these riots that can probably be found in a lack of education and hope. Same reason people riot everywhere.

I hope this does not mess up our med vacation in 2 weeks!!! We are flying into London for 3 days before our Med Cruise on Aug 27th.... I wonder if we should come up with plan B maybe take the eruo star to paris??? We cant change our flights now the tickets are up to $7800 now so thats out of the question!

Scottish Police forces have offered to send in reinforcements. The hospitals might need extra beds for the rioters

I used to work for an UK company here in the states. We had people from all over the UK and Ireland working in the office. It was interesting how such a small country, compared to the US, could have such vast differences in people, culture and language. There was a guy from Liverpool that took me about two months to understand. He WAS speaking English. It just took me months to understand him. Then I did not see him for a couple of months, and when I saw him again, I could not understand him again.

Great group of people to work with. We had some great times together.

I hope this does not mess up our med vacation in 2 weeks!!! We are flying into London for 3 days before our Med Cruise on Aug 27th.... I truly believe you will be safe, in the centre of London and the west end where most of the tourist attractions are, has not been touched at all. it is beyond the centre in smaller boroughs that have been hit the worst. and I truly believe that they will have this situation under control before then, I have birthday plans at rainforest cafe in two weeks in town which I will not be changing, my grandparents went to the theatre tonight. like any city, it is about which area to go to, and in the heart of the commercial centre it is safe from these idiots

I agree with this. It died down a bit last night (apparently thugs don't like looting when it's raining).

The crazy thing is that people who are now going to court are teaching assistants, A* students and 11 year olds! It's not just people without jobs or hope, it was people being selfish and opportunistic. For their thuggery, all our prices go up!

I suspect said girl didn't understand it either to be honest

All seems to have quietened down now, that said I still can't wait til I'm in Barcelona then on the Disney Magic and away from this country!
