My girls love Rio the movie and Rio II is coming out April 11/2014. We are cruising at Easter and I thought I read that Rio was made by Disney indirectly. Is there a chance it may be playing on the Fantasy while we cruise.

Looking at the production credits at imdb.com, the movie was not produced or distributed by Disney.

As noted, Disney has no connection with this film. So, it's most likely that it won't be onboard.

too bad, my girls were excited to watch it in the Theatre on the cruise. We will just have to watch it before we leave. Thanks for replying

Who "indirectly" makes a movie? That's ridiculous!

I think the PP was referring to distribution. Disney makes movies and they distribute movies. For example, Pixar made movies, and Disney distributed them until Disney bought them out. Some films are both made and distributed under the Disney name (like Frozen), while others are made and distributed entirely by Touchstone (such as Gnomeo and Juliet). Since Touchstone is entirely owned by Disney, you could say that Disney indirectly made Gnomeo and Juliet.

I know some of the Touchstone films have played on the ships, but I am not sure if they all do.

Disney entered into an agreement to distribute 30 Dreamworks films, but to my knowledge, none of these have played on the ship. Either way, Rio 2 is distributed by 20th Century Fox and I don't think they have any relationship with them.

Rio has nothing to do with Disney.

Gnomeo and Juliet is Touchstone and therefore Disney. It was played on the ships.

Thanks very much for your reply dry116. That is exactly what I was meaning. Sorry I sounded so ridiculous n8nally.

Yes they have.

War Horse and Lincoln are just a couple DreamWorks movies that Disney Released and they have been shown on-board.

Learn something new everyday! Thanks for explaining!

DreamWorks made "The Help" which was distributed by Disney, so the movie was shown on the ships.
