Ringing in 2010, 6 months til we'll be back again

Glad you aren't snowed in. Luckily our snow is slowly melting, but it's been sooooo cold. I'm ready for spring!

What a sweet guy Jarvis is. That was so thoughtful!

I have to tell you what a nice guy Jarvis is. Drew is at a friend's house and Trent is in Florida, so I got a text from Jarvis a few minutes ago. He wanted to know if I needed anything or needed to go anywhere before he went to work at 11:30. Wasn't that just so thoughtful of him? I totally did not expect that, but it made me very happy that Trent has such a nice guy as a good friend.

What a sweetheart! It would be so cool to wake up and see all that snow in the yard! Of course our emergency services would be going crazy - people here can't drive in the rain much less snow :goodvibes I was glad to hear the front door open this morning (3:30 AM here) what a terrible drive! I know it was nervewracking for you!

Your snow looks like our snow. Love the picture of your car! :goodvibes Clay got up early this morning and by the time I got up at 8:30 Hannah had already been outside in the snow. She's now at a friends house drinking hot chocolate and watching a movie. Clay went over to hang out with the Dad and I'm home alone :surfweb:

How sweet of Jarvis to think of you! That young man will make a fine husband one day! Glad Trent made it over the mountain safely.

Here's pics of Hannah from yesterday:

what a sweetie! :goodvibes

glad you got a taste of snow. looks like it's just enough! we didn't get anything. it rained last night and i think it was sort of sleet-ish, but this morning it's just wet. it's not cold enough to do anything other than be wet. i think maybe a little further north of us it's kinda icy. but ice is no fun!

Awww...MeMom...your snow is beautiful :goodvibes Looks like you got just the right amount--enough to cover your yard completely, but not so much as to be trapped inside for days!

We just have patches of sleet in our yard, not much snow, except on my roof. I know we still have to get through February, but I'm ready for some warmer temps. :cool2:

Well, we got more sleet than snow and it was rather pitiful. Our facility is closed so that is good since that means my staff does not have to try and make it out. My wonderful DH went out and took pics this morning.

You can see how little we got on the deck railing.

More ice than snow- and it will refreeze tonight- yuck

Looking down the driveway!!!

I guess I will get our ice melt out either later today or Sun so I can get out. Forecast is for Sunday to melt some of this so I may wait.:)

By the way What a sweetheart Jarvis is. He will make some girl a wonderful husband someday!!!!:lovestruc

I bet it's nuts when you all get snow down there! Do they sell shovels or heavy winter jackets? Or stuff like de-icer or ice scrapers? That was really nice of Jarvis to think of you! What a nice kid. :)

what a good guy. :goodvibes I'm glad that Trent made it ahead of the storm and safe to his destination.

The ribs, mac 'n cheese, beans and potatoes sound delicious! I hope you got to the brownies to top it off! yum!

OOOHHHH Memom! You got a good snow. You're right, just enough for fun, but not too much.

Why is that Jarvis not married off? Just doesn't make sense to me.

I think it's supposed to be too cold here for it to melt, and they are predicting more precip for Monday evening. I guess there's a chance this could be the one in a million (almost) year that we use all of our snow days.

I texted him back that I had food and power, so all is well. I told him I appreciated the thoughtfulness.

It was so light out, even in the early morning hours. A blanket of snow makes everything so pretty and peaceful.

That was a long drive. I hope the one back is less eventful and stressful.

That's a nice way to spend a day. :)

He will be a great husband and father. I'm ready for him to find 'the one', because I want to watch him take his own kids to Disney World, of course.

From what I can tell, most everyone around here got from 3 to 5 inches. I think my street was just blessed with this nice small inch or two. :goodvibes

Yeah, we didn't get much. I have a flat road, so if I had to get out, I could, but I don't, so I won't! :thumbsup2

You got a little less than us, but when it becomes a layer of ice, that is surely no good. Stay inside and be warm amd safe.

By the way What a sweetheart Jarvis is. He will make some girl a wonderful husband someday!!!!:lovestruc

He will. Keep your eyes out for Miss Right!

I bet it's nuts when you all get snow down there! Do they sell shovels or heavy winter jackets? Or stuff like de-icer or ice scrapers? That was really nice of Jarvis to think of you! What a nice kid. :)

It's interesting. Reporters hit every bridge and grocery store in town to show the craziness. They do sell winter gear and supplies. Yesterday a reporter was showing a bunch of people buying sleds, They seldom get to use sleds here, so the kids were having a grand time with it!

I was glad when he called from the other side of Monteagle Mountain. I bet he made it just shortly before it was closed.

I did make the brownies, but now there is no one here to eat them but me. :sad2:

OOOHHHH Memom! You got a good snow. You're right, just enough for fun, but not too much.

Why is that Jarvis not married off? Just doesn't make sense to me.

The little boy behind us was out rolling around in it a minute ago. He's about 6. He was having a big time.

I think Jarvis had a pretty serious relationship a few years ago that did not work out, so he's very, very cautious. I know God has just the right girl in mind for him, and a lucky girl she will be. He's such a polite guy, and he's very down-to earth. He'd be very happy to be surrounded by a wife and a couple of strollers on a Disney trip. I feel sure that is out there for him.

OK. I am giggling a little bit over what you southerners think of as snow but I know that y'all ;) don't have the town equipment, sanding crews etc. to deal with it. I hope you enjoyed the snow day and am glad everyone was safe.

Lucky Trent to be in Florida!

Jarvis sounds like a super nice guy! Very sweet of him to check in on you! :goodvibes For the record, I am still laughing over the story of his mom and the prime rib and the purse. :lmao:

When I first moved down here I had a hard time finding a decent snow shovel. I actually had my parents bring one down from NY.

What we usually get is ice so I have the industrial size container of ice melt in the garage so I can get down the driveway safely.

I had a real sled when I was young in NY. My kids have the plastic disk things since sled runners don't work well in the "snow" we get. The plastic disks work better than trash can lids whch is what they wanted to use. Why I think the plastic disks are safer I have no idea but at least they are big enough to hold them in

You got some good snow too MeMom! Just the right amount. We got about 5-6 inches I guess. Right now it is sleeting but they say there may be a bit more snow before it is done. My kids have had a blast today. I put some pictures up on my PTR.

How thoughtful of Jarvis. Just the right person will come along for him!:goodvibes

Awwww... so glad that you got your self that snow day! How fun! Brownies must be a snowy day item, because I just pulled a pan out of the oven!!! :goodvibes It's still snowing here... about four inches now I'm guessing... which is what they said would be the most we'd get.... As my Husband says, those weather men don't often know their eyes from their elbows... ;)

Would have loved to stay home from school, but I am loving this saturday in my PJs... :) The boys too!

Glad you got your milk and bread! :thumbsup2

I love the snow pictures, we did not get any snow just rain. I have found since I retired snow days are not the same. Plus the last couple of years I taught we would get snow over the weekend and it would be melted by Monday. I always felt that was a waste of a good snow. What is the use of a snow day if it is not on a school day.

Jarvis is a peach. Trent is blessed to have such a good friend. I am sure God is preparing just the right girl for both Trent and Jarvis.

Hey MeMom just checking in. We got mostly sleet and some snow, so the roads are very slick. We were withoutt power for about 4 hours last night. We live outside the city limits and we are always the last to get power back. Sam's ex inlaws came and got her and Ty and took them to their house because they had power and we didn't want Ty in this cold house. Sarah stayed with friends in town and Denny is stuck out of town working. I am here all alone and I am not use to that. My mother and mother-in-law both live close so I stuck around to make so they had plenty of wood in their fireplaces. I broke out Ty's portable DVD player and bundled up in the recliner and watched movies by candlelight. The power is back on now but the roads are still really bad so I'll be here alone all weekend I guess. I get to Dis all weekend. Praying the lights stay on. Enjoy your weekend.

Oh, I have no doubt people laugh at us. We laugh at us!

I know.
Trent didn't offer to take his mother to the Sunshine State with him.
Bad son!

Yeah, whatever girl gets Jarvis gets to eat well at Sunday dinners at his mom's house, right??? :rotfl:

Plastic sleds here, too. There have been kids up and down the road today, but there are no hills here. They're just running and jumping on the sleds and going a few feet. They're having fun, though.

It did snow a tiny bit more today. I'd say we have two inches maybe.

I've been nibbling on them. Drew and his buddies will come in and finish them off in short order sometime today, I am sure.

Yes, I have milk and bread, and so far I have used neither one. :)

We've had that happen - snow on a Saturday and the roads cleared by Monday. The way things look now, there is a good chance we will not be in school Monday. It is supposed to stay very cold all weekend.

Yep, I truly believe God has the future of both guys (and Drew, but he's too young and immature for me to be concerned about finding a wife yet!) in His plan. :)

Enjoy your time alone and your movie-watching. Maybe a pan of brownies is in order for you, too? :goodvibes Isn't it nice to sometimes have enough time to finish all your chores and have lots of leftover time just to 'veg out'??? :thumbsup2

We interrupt this Tennessee blizzard to bring you...

This place opens earlier than most resort gift shops, which is a plus for Pop, but it was still too early this morning.

Her shirt will give you a hint who we were seeking out this day.

Before getting on the bus, I somehow found my way back to the gift shop.

If you want to shop a little more. Hold on just a second.

MeMom I hope you don't mind me hijacking your report. I thought since it was so cold and everyone is stuck inside I would warm you up with a few pictures from my trip to POP and WDW in November.

Hope it helps your 5 month wait easier.

The reason for going...took my best friends grandaugher Avery. At the airport.
