Ring problem - a ring from each mom

So my boyfriend went back home this week and told his family that we're getting married. We had already decided I would use my mom's wedding and engagement rings, but would change out some stones to make it my own (I wanted some color in it). During my boyfriend's visit, his mom asked if he had given me a ring yet and he said no (the other set is at the jeweler's), so she gave him her old engagement ring to give to me. It was so sweet of her and I love it, but I also really want to use my mom's set. The 2 styles are completely different, so there's no chance of combining it all into one set.

What would you guys do? I've now got 2 engagement rings, one from my mom and one from his, and I don't want to offend either mother. Do you think it would be okay to wear the extra ring on my right hand?

take all the diamonds out of both rings and have them all re-set into a new ring! you will have some major bling :thumbsup2

What about using 1 for the engagement and the other one for your wedding ring? You can reset one or both to make them match better... :) Unless you're using both your mom's engagement and wedding rings as yours...

your DF missed the boat on this one. If he had told mom it was at the jewelers being reset you would not have an issue. Sounds like he needs to go back to Mom and tell her the situation (his mom, his issue)

For your futuere MIL's stone, can it be turned into a solitare necklace?

Good luck handling the situation!

that's what i was going to say! maybe you could make a wrap out of one of them!

more than one is always fun!

I wish I could somehow combine all 3 rings, but it's impossible. My wedding band is a wrap that fits my original engagement ring, and the style is completely different than the solitaire she gave him. But, the problem is pretty much solved now, so it doesn't matter.

I had my fiance call his mom and pretend like he hadn't already given me the ring. He told her we had planned to use my mom's rings and he asked if she still wanted me to have the ring. She still does and seems fine with me wearing it on my other hand. So it all worked out... and hopefully my guy learned a little lesson!! I can't believe he didn't tell her about the other rings when she asked!!

i'm glad everything worked out for you pez! i wore two heirloom rings for my wedding on my right hand! how's the red dress shopping coming?

I'm glad everything worked out and whooo hoooo for a new right hand ring!

I'm glad it all worked out! Enjoy your new right hand ring :)
