I know what you mean and I know it is even worse than when I lived there. I remember we didn't go much in the summer. To the beach and back because of the crowds.
However, my dad always said that as much as we complained, we needed those tourists.
I remember "Tourist Go Home" shirts--they were so popular!

Bennys are now anyone that comes from north of the Raritan River. Used to be visitors from Bayonne, Elizabeth, Newark, and New York.

I resemble that remark. Although I'm not there more than 2-3 times a year.

Oh, I have such fond memories of vacationing as a very young child in Beach Haven.

I had to have been under 5 and I still remember. Just loved it!

Only if you wear your shoes on the beach! Which is really a losing battle, sometimes the sand is so freaking hot, you can't go barefoot and if you wear shoes yuck!! I wear water shoes so I guess I'm a shoobie but you won't see me with socks and sneakers on!
