Yes, you can still ride in front cab of the Mark VII monorails at DLR and you can also sit in the back too. Guests can guarantee a spot up front if you are at the front of the line at the Tomorrowland Station, when the guests who are on the monorail that came from DTD must depart at the Tomorrowland station. You can do a round trip on the monorail and don't have to get off when you are at the DTD station. Unless if it is a crowded day and you must depart from the monorail. If the guests who rode up front of the monorail and depart from the DTD station, who ever is in the very front of the line at the DTD station will be able to ride up front if they ask the CM driver.

Not like WDW is still not offering the guests to ride up front since the accident last year.

we rode in the back from the Tomorrowland station. We rode round trip. It was nice because there are 6 of us and back in the day when you could ride up front at WDW, you could only do 4.
While I enjoyed the monorail at DL, I love being able to ride the one for free at WDW (no ticket needed) :)

What? You need a ticket to ride the monorail?

Yes, because the monorail has a stop inside TL you have to have valid park entrance for the day.

We were in DTD and asked to ride up front, we were told to hang out and wait for the driver and yes, we could ride up front. It was not a busy day but the driver did already have a family riding in front with him. Once he stopped he let them know that since we were waiting to ride in front they would have to disembark. I do believe they were allowed first chance at riding in the rear of the monorail if they were going back in. They were very polite about it, got out and said "can we wait here to ride back in in the front?" and they were told yes they could. Now I don't know if was that specific driver or day but they were asked to let us ride so we didn't have to wait. :)

Sitting in the front with the pilot is a lot of fun. We sat in the last car one evening during a non peak season and they forgot to open the door for us so we got a couple of round trips. Someone finally noticed us after we pressed our faces to the glass. It was really funny.

I went with a friend and her then 5 year old son last year. While waiting for the monorail, the CM saw the 5 year old and asked if we wanted to sit with the driver/pilot. My friend and I had never done this, actually I don't think we even knew it was possible so we were very excited and thrilled to have been asked :cool1::yay::cheer2::dance3:.

My friend's son answered "No thank you.":scared::crazy2: - he's a bit of a chicken. But like professional mobsters we quickly changed his mind :cool2: pirate: :mic::darth:.

OMG that's so tag worthy...where is the Tag Fairy? LOL

We were waiting close to the front one day when we went on the monorail and one of the CM's just asked us. It was a lot of fun for the girls - I would recommend trying for it.

We just did this yesterday. When we got to the front of the line we asked and there were already two groups in front of us so we had to wait about 10 minutes. They allow five to ride in the front. We were a part of three and another party of two rode with us. The party of two got off at DTD and another party of two got on. I asked if we had to get off and the pilot said no.

When did they start allowing this (riding with pilot) again? Last time I asked we were told that it was not allowed....

I had rode up front and back of the monorail round trip since I was there in December of last year. During the busy days back in the summer, they have the signs out at each station and said that you must disembark the monorail when you get to the next station. When DL only had the Mark V purple monorail back in early to mid 2008, the Mark VII red monorail was not ready for service and DL only had the Mark V purple monorail running during that time and DL didn't allow round trips on the monorail.

As far as I know they never stopped allowing it at DL. They did stop allowing it at WDW and I don't know if they ever started it again.

DL didn't stopped letting guests ride up front of the monorail during the WDW accident. When I was in WDW in March, they didn't allow any guests ride up front with the CM pilot. So I would assume that WDW is still not allowing guests to ride up in the front cabin.

bumpin!!!

Thanks for that, and I'm somewhat hi-jacking. Why does anyone ride the monorail? Where does it go and why should I ride it? I'm a WDW-ite and I know where it's taking me. Everytime I go to DLR, I see it go by and I've never investigated why I might need to be on it.

at Walt Disney World the monorail does not require an admission ticket.

Originally is was just an attraction. While it still is it also exits DL and goes to DTD near the DLH. So for many it is effective to use as transport to and from the park. But fun anyway.
