July 8-13 trip - we are staying off-site and not park hopping

Family wants to experience the skyliner but we have no purpose for using it. Can we do a round-trip from Epcot and back? I assume when we get off at HS, we can get back on with no issue.

Also, we are going to rope-drop Epcot - would parking at HS and taking the Skyliner to IG be a good way to do this?

Yes, you can ride the Skyliner anytime it's open.

The Skyliner station is close to the International Gateway in the back of Epcot. My suggestion is to experience the Skyliner on your Epcot day. Take it to the Riviera. Explore the resort a bit (maybe even eat at its food court), and then take the Skyliner back to Epcot.

Do this in the afternoon when the Skyliner is not crowded. Also make sure that there is no chance of thunderstorms before you ride it. The Skyliner shuts down for thunderstorms, and you don't want to arrive at the Riviera, only to have to wait for a bus to get back.

Yes, there's no rules for using the skyliner, other than you can only ride if it's operating. The skyliner station at CBR does get backed up for rope drop, so be sure to arrive early to DHS parking lotto get to the transfer station and get in line there.

If you are rope dropping Epcot. I would park at Epcot. The skyliner is more busy in the morning. Ride the skyliner mid day to hop to HS and back.

Yes, you may park at DHS and take the Skyliner to Epcot but in doing this you need to keep an eye on what time you leave Epcot. If you wait too late, you will need to walk to DHS or hire private transportation as Epcot closes later than DHS and transportation only runs for approx. 1 hour after a park closes. Transportation will always take guests away from the park until all guests are gone but they will not take you to a closed park if it's much after the park closes.

On one of your CBR stops, you my want to take a side trip to Pop & back. I think the lower flight over the wetlands and Hourglass Lake are quite lovely. It's only 10 more minutes round trip.

Also, you may want to wait for a clear cabin in one direction on each leg for the best views.

You will need to fully exit and get back in the queue at each terminus.

Just be careful about your timing. We went joyriding last recently and were trying not to get in line near rope drop for a park. We went late morning to DHS from Riviera and forgot that our line boarding at CBR would be the same as those heading to Epcot, and that Epcot has been opening at 11.

I still highly recommend finding a time to ride. We enjoyed it. Thankfully the line moved fairly quickly, but it was daunting seeing how long it was.

Also keep in mind they won't let you park at a Skyliner resort without an actual reservation there (lodging or dining).

We did that on our last trip. Went from the IG to CB, walked around there for a short while, then rode back to the IG.
As others have noted, be careful when you ride. We had nearly no lines on either end. Other times have very long lines.

I would just drive to Epcot and whenever I found myself near the IG I would pop out and take a ride. I don’t like worrying about getting back to my car at the end of the night.

A Skyliner ride is our favorite way to take a mid-afternoon break, from either Epcot or DHS. Despite the fact that the gondolas are not air conditioned, we think they are a great way to relax and cool down - the breeze is delightful.

Sometimes we take it to Riviera or Pop/AoA and stroll around for a bit, or sometimes we just ride. Loooove it.
