Riding the DL rides and attractions

How will it work for our family of five to be able to ride the rides together? Our oldest son is adult-sized, so we're basically three adults and two young teens. I can't imagine we'll be able to squeeze three of us together.

If we ride 2 + 2, will the fifth person be able to ride solo or will that person have to join a single riders line and therefore be separated from the group?

The fifth person can ride solo, and won't be separated from your group. What may happen though, mainly just on the bigger rollercoasters, is the CM may see that there will be an open spot and call out for a single rider from the line. If someone comes forward, your fifth person may have a companion for the ride.

But, the bottom line is we've had an odd number of people in our group many times and have never been separated.

It completely depends on the ride. Some rides like pirates can sit up to four across, but will break you up most likely 3 and 2. But some like Haunted Manison you can TRY to get three in a "Doom Buggie" but unless its a small kid I probably wouldn't want to get that friendly haha!

Usually when we have an odd man out so to say we just cycle the spare so no one feels left out but on most rides you are sitting so close to the others you really don't feel so alone.

Multiple Seat rides;

Jungle Boat

Matterhorn (in some cases you can get three in one seat)- Most teens chose to sit alone since you sit sort of on top of each other so probably will have only you and DH sharing a seat. But Cart has four seats.

I know there is more but off hand that is what I am remembering off hand.

I have rarely had a single rider given a "friend" to ride with, unless it is VERY busy. And never had them seperated from out group unless we had too many for the cart, which rarely happens unless you are a larger group then 5.

We are a family of six with the oldest now being 15 and second oldest 14 and this has never been a big issue for us at DLR even when they were younger. Here are some examples...

Space Mtn - cars are for six (I believe) seated two in a row

Splash Mtn - logs are for 6-7 seated single file

Matterhorn - bobsleds are for 2-4 - we usually end up in three bobsleds and sometimes two - seated single file

BTMRR - this is like a train with I believe 15 rows of seats - two per seat

Indiana Jones - 4 across with four rows per car - no problem

POTC - big boats with 3-4 for per row and 5-6 rows

HM - 2-3 per doombuggie - you will have to split up

Jungle Cruise - big boat no problem

Fantasyland rides - many are two across and either 2 or 3 rows so here there will be some conflict - but the cars are usually very clsoe together where you can see each other easily

At DCA

Soarin - no problem - 9-10 in a row

GRR - 8 in a raft no problem

CA Screamin - two seats per row but 10-12 rows per train - no problem

Tower of Terror - seats up to maybe 16 in an elevator so no problem


In summary some of the rides will be tight and you will have to split but most of the majors will be no problem.
