Any chance they still allow guests to ride up front with the monorail drivers? This was one of the highlights of our last trip to Disney World in 2007. I know there was that monorail accident a few years ago and think they may no longer allow this option, but I wanted to check before we leave in 2 WEEKS!!!

1) No riders in the monorail driver's cab.
2) Not since the accident.
3) None in the foreseeable future.
4) Our neighbor is a driver, and says that "for the drivers", it's a blessing.
. . . families distract the driver with noise-souvenirs-balloons
. . . guests try to stand for scenery, obstructing driver's view
. . . guests talk AT the drivers during operation
. . . frequent arguments on the platform as to who's turn it was to ride
. . . cab only took 4-adults, and large families complained when 1-4 others couldn't join them

Never really thought of it from that point of view. We were blessed to be able to do it the one time only and were quiet and delighted to enjoy the scenery (while sitting). The driver asked if we wanted him to take our photo as we approached the Epcot ball. We were thrilled. He did chat with us on the ride, but we were careful to be quiet and not distracting at all. While I'm certainly not perfect, I forget that not everyone has the same idea of respect and behavior. Thank you for sharing this perspective. I wish my son could enjoy the same experience we did before he was born, but he will enjoy the monorail just fine from the passenger compartment, as will the rest of my group. Thanks again!

We were lucky enough to have a ride in the front one year with our two boys. It was awesome. The boys were issued "monorail jr. driver's licenses" and we took pictures with the driver (when stopped!). I do, however, understand the safety concerns and why this was stopped.
