I know that this is a completely ridiculous question but I hate looking like an eejit and I haven't used my card before! When do you present your shareholder card in shops and restaurants to get your discount? I think in the shops they need to see it before they start scanning? I just don't want to either look like a keeno presenting my card too early or have to wait while they cancel everything and then start again! ;) Do I present before we're seated in restaurants or when I ask for the bill? :scratchin

Thanks!

I always have my shareholders card in my hand when I'm buying stuff in the shops, both here in the Disney Store UK and when I'm in DLP. I make a point of showing them my card when I hand over my items that I want to buy.

At table service restaurants, you give them your card when you ask for the bill.

Be aware, you may be asked for ID when using your shareholders card, and you may (and often will) have to wait in the shops for a manager to come over to your till and authorise the shareholders discount for you.

I have mine on my trading pin lanyard so the CM's can clearly see it. Then hand it over when buying things in the shops. Some times they don't ask to see it up close.

At resturants I show it when I ask for the bill. But the CM has normaly seen it by then.

I have noticed that in some resturants when wearing the card on my lanyard we get a better service. During our last trip we had a meal at Inventions and we were given a complimenty round of drinks by the CM.

And once at the California Grill we were shown to a much better table overlooking the castle when the matradee spotted it while we were walking together into the main resturant area. He asked Shareholders and we nodded and he said lets go this way instead and he put us at a window seat.

We haved also had a free dessert at Walts once. But we were not sure if the dessert was free because of the of the 'gold card' or if the CM treated us as we had left him a good tip the afternoon before at the Blue Lagoon when he was our CM there too.

But unforunatley he could not do his elephant and cockatoo impersonations at Walts :rotfl2: But we did trade pins with him again.

Hmmm must start wearing mine on my lanyard!!

I normally will show it before I hand over the items I'm purchasing so that the CM might call a manager and I wouldnt have to wait as long in shops and I present mine when I ask for the bill in restaurants, before they print me off one so they wont have to print twice :thumbsup2

You'll see great savings with it. We think we saved about €150 on our last trip and it was a short one :cool1:

Thanks all for the replies. I really can't wait to start flashing my gold card around, I think I'll have to invest in a lanyard...... ;)

I don't know about the pin trading lanyard (I don't have one.... yet) but I have one for work that has had a clear plastic card holder for the bottom. I think that might be what Jonjo has?

Yep that's what I use.
