Ridiculous crowd!

You're there now. All the warnings against going on the 4th are of no use to you.

I'm guessing you're already making the optimal choices-- going to the parks estimated to have the lowest crowds, getting there for rope drop, having a concrete idea of which attractions to do when, using FP to its fullest, having ADRs for any table service meals, leaving when it gets too crazy for some pool time, staying hydrated.

So, big picture: you're in WDW while I'm home with laundry to do. Make the best of it, and have the best trip you can!!

We have been here a 'plethora of times" and nothing can prepare u for this. Yeah, yeah, don't go on holidays, but u go when u can. What Disney should consider, is the amount people are paying, ie resort stays, and close the gates when it's just too darn full! Squeezing out all the cashola they can get.

Dude, there is no way, THAT many people can maintain safe regulations.

Yes, the fireworks were RiPPIN' and we did prep for the crowds mentally but like the title says, "RIDICULOUS CROWDS", were not expected.

We are here now and we approach the parks in a laissez faire manner. No rush to get anywhere. It is a beautiful place, better that 'chatting over pool chemical compositions'(suggests you're a bit more intelligent than I) having a great time.

Consider this post a PSA.

The crowds during the Spring Break period in April are horrendous. I'm hoping when we go next May, the crowds aren't terrible.

Actually, I've worked MK Main St. 3rd & 4th of July the last 5 years and this years crowds were not as bad as some previous years, believe it or not. Last night the 5th, was really crowded compared to previous years but that was probably due to a 4 day weekend. Expect tonight to be more of the same as last night.

Did you do any research for this trip :confused3 ;)

Seriously though, you sound so surprised. How did you not know the fourth was going to be so crowded when you paid your thousands for the trip?

Are you kidding me wizenheimer? Do you even have a job to make your own money and spend your own "thousands?" Tons of fools like myself are paying for this too. Not right young lady....you sound like an apologist....

Just telling you like it is....

I'm glad you're managing to have a great time.

Where are you staying? And which park are you going to today?

Our next trip is still over a year away; I'll vacation vicariously through anyone in WDW :)

Have a fabulous time!!

We're starting to plan for August 2014. (Not really true; I've been planning for ages.)

We're figuring a week at the Beach Club, and I can't wait!!

Do Soarin' an extra time for me, OK??

Thanks Alice... One of my DS is a big Soarin' fan.. Will try to get a ride in for you..although you know this one usually has a longggggggg queue...will do my best. :yay:

Yeah, I know.

So if that doesn't work, how about Maelstrom?

Or, better yet, have a cocktail for me while you're watching Illuminations tonight. It's one of my most favorite parts of Disney.

We went to the Mk last night and had a great time!

We went on BTMR when it was raining, posted wait time 60 minutes, but hardly anyone was returning with a fast pass, so we waited only about 15 minutes tops. We went over and explored Tom Sawyers Island, while it was still lightly raining and it was empty! We also rode Buzz and Space Mountain with fast passes and the TTA twice.

It was super crowded but we found a spot to watch the fireworks about 20 minutes prior to with really no problem, right on the hub too. It was a great time. :)

I don't know if this is still true, but years ago when we lived in Tamp[a, we messed up once and went on July 4. At that time, we were told that July 4th was the busiest/most crowded day of the year to go. I remember they took us out behind Main Street rather than through the main entrance/exit.

And the apologists are out. Geez, just let the op complain about the crowds; no harm in that.

Geez....really? What about my rights....can't I complain about him complaining? :cool1:

It's true.. Viewed 4th sitting back there...

Time's awasting!!

Epcot is open now. Those fastpasses are already being grabbed up.

Get going, and have a great day!

Hi from a fellow New Jersian. I don't blame you for being annoyed at spending thousands and being in the parks among hoards of people, doesn't sound fun to me. We are going in Sept because I would not be able to handle crowds like that. I also agree with you about Disney limiting how many people are allowed in the parks but they are just worried about the bottom line.

To actually see the crowds in person is a completely different experience then just taking peoples word for it. My Family tends to go early summer and the Crowd levels are pretty high during that week and I think..."how much worse can it get?". Even with planning, an experience Disney traveler will think they can handle the crowds and the shock of seeing wall to wall people can be overwhelming. I've gone to Disney 50 plus times in my life and early on thought the same way (that no crowd was too big for me), but one day at the Magic Kingdom New Years Eve (for the millenium celebration) cured me of that. Let the person vent a little bit.

As far as people saying to just go a different time...not everyone has that luxury. They may have kids in school and just can't take a week during non peak times and they may only be so many available weeks that someone (or both people in a family) can take a vacation.

OP, hope you enjoy the rest of your vacation...and it is amazing how much a Dole Whip and Churro can cure crowd anxiety...

We just returned from spending the week of the 4th and we had an amazing trip!!!!! We knew it would be insanely crowded at certain times and planned accordingly. My husband's vacation is always the week of the 4th and the week after Christmas so we have no other options of travel dates. I'm just saying that it can be done during peak crowds and still be fun! I can't wait to go during a slower time some day!
