Rides while pregnant?

I would also add to the list the Barnstormer for no riding.

I agree. That is the worst ride at disney. For that whole 5 second ride I have never been shook up more. Total headache. Awful lol.

So your asking what rides you can safely "get away with?" same question just worded different. The time you realize that a certain ride was not a good idea...damage is done. Every preg. Is different so making your decision on someone elses experience is a gamble that im not willing to take. Take your time, sit, walk, people watch and celebrate the new life.

Please see post #1 of the thread, or really, any post I have made in it. We are in full communication with the OB on this.

She may ride nothing at all, and odds are good that the only "questionable" ride ridden will be the safari. Asking for experience and input of others is hardly me gambling, it's me educating myself.

Polite sanctimony is still sanctimony, just worded different.

In think OPs question was geared more towards: I know the Magic Carpets are safe...but have pregnant riders gotten motion sick? That sort of thing. I think it's a great question-there are lots of things that pregnant bodies react to differently. I know I'm excited to NOT have to ride the teacups on our upcoming trip :)

I just rode DINOSAUR for the first time in a couple years today, and woah I forgot how jerky it was! I rode the Safari as well this evening and the only truly rough part was on the bridge where the vehicle flops left and right as if the bridge was breaking, but other than that the roads are a little bumpy, but no sudden stops or lurching. Driving on a gravel road in a small car would basically be the equivalent. There are also other alternatives to the safari, such as going to Rafiki's planet watch and visiting the petting zoo and labs, or walking the pangini forest trails if she decides the Safari isn't for her.
At other parks, the winnie the pooh ride has a bit of a bounce in the tigger area, I'm sure its fine, but there is a lap bar and the car does go up and down a bit, but only for a short amount of time. If you guys decided to do the indy speedway, maybe you or your family could be in the car behind her so no wise guy comes up behind her and slams into her car when she's stopped at the end, otherwise I don't see any problems on that one, as long as her steady foot is on the gas and not lurching the car haha.
Hope this helps a little :)

Congrats! ! Very exciting! I only have one child and I was allllll belly by 6 months. Huge! I was fine on the safari. No issues at all. :thumbsup2

I went when I was five months pregnant. I was doing the same thing you are. I agree no lab bars. My pregnancy had no issues or worries, so I elected to go on safari after discussing with my OB. I did maneuver my way to the front of the jeep each time. It is noticeably less bumpy. My only complaint is that they didn't have a lot of baby stuff in the shops while I wandered around while the DH and DD went on some of the rides. My DH did not see that as a problem ;)

A little of subject, but one of my favorite rides while pregnant was Spaceship Earth in Epcot. At the end when they turn you around and you feel like you are laying on your back, a nice little beak for you body. I felt like I was stretching some of those tired back muscles. I was nervous about going, but we already had our trip planned when we found out. I had a great time. Just drink a lot of water and take breaks when needed. The same advice everyone should follow,

OP, I went very often to Disney while pregnant. I waited until about 5-6 months to try the Safari ride and did fine. Definitely try to sit near the front because it can get really bumpy. I skipped it further along in my pregnancy, didn't want the bumps to get anything going!

I wouldn't try Dinosaur, it's very jerky and your wife would probably end up feeling awful after.

Disney is still great while pregnant, especially at AK. While others were on rides, I'd stroll around on the trails. :goodvibes

Congrats on baby six!!!! (Bless you for having the patients.....lol)

In my humble opinion.....Dinosaur is extremely bumpy and I would avoid that one.
I did ride every ride at 6-8 weeks along with my daughter with no issues....I didn't know I was pregnant at the time.

Have a blast and good luck with the baby!!

6.... I would be scared that Dinosaur would shake the baby out ;)

I went pregnant at DL Paris and avoided the rides they suggested however, some of the others with lapbelts were a bit uncomfortable, but I was quite big with the third and quite early on as well.

I would also probably ride Soarin' even though it has restrictions

Have a great trip and congratulations to you and your wife.

Kirsten

Just curious, since she will be most likely showing at 6 months (congrats by the way :-). ) would Disney employees refuse her from getting on? How does that work? That might be another issue you run in to. Meaning, even if dr clears her (and really, he/she knows best) she still might have trouble.

Every pregnancy is different so you might have to just play it by ear. With my first, I felt great and just used common sense with some of the shakier/bumpier rides. With my second, I was only barely 5 months pregnant but was so physically uncomfortable (he was resting on a major nerve) I skipped a lot of rides. With that one, the only time I felt good in general was walking, so AK worked well. I walked all the animal viewing paths while the rest of the family went on rides. Good luck and congrats to you!

We went in 2006 when I was 3 months pregnant with DD. At that time I was working 12 hr shifts on my feet all day at work, it was also a physical job with a lot of walking and lifting. I also have horses and rode 4 days a week or so. The horses are kept at home, so I was mucking stalls and doing everything else involved with their upkeep.

When we booked the trip our travel agent warned me against going and that it may be too much for me. (We were going for 10 days). Several co-workers also cautioned me. My thoughts were if it was ok with my doctor and I was still expected to work 12 hr days etc, and I felt fine I would go with the mind set I would do what I could do and be happy. After all I love the shows and music and the food!

At MK I rode everything except Splash. I did Space Mountain once. I found I got dizzy much more easily while pregnant and that one bothered me (only because I felt dizzy). I would probably skip it now though because it seems rougher than it used to.

At Epcot I rode everything except TT and MS.

At HS I rode everything except ToT, RnC and Star Tours. I think the new Star Tours is less rougher than the older version. So I'd have to think about this one, but I'd probably still give it a miss.

At AK I rode everything except Dinosaur, EE and Kali. I had never been on Kali before but if I had to do it over again I would go on it.

I'm not sure if any of this info will help you. There is a big difference from being 3 months pregnant with a first baby and 6 months pregnant with a 6th baby! You both have been before so know what the rides are like and your wife will know what she is feeling up to. Sometimes I just chilled on a bench for a little while if I was feeling tired. Hey, any excuse to have a Mickey ice cream....I think the baby wanted one :).

Our DD (who is 7 now) is a WDW lover. She is always up for trying new rides. She gets to try new ones every year as she gets taller-45 inches and counting.

I went at 31 weeks pg with DD15. I know I rode Safari, I remember bracing my feet on the floor and kind of lifting my bottom off the seat over the "bumpy" areas. I do not remember if I rode Dinosaur or not. That is normally on our list of go-to rides, but DS19 was 4 at the time and I am not sure he was ready to ride that one.

She will probably know when she gets there what she is "up for" at the time.

Congrats on #6 and a princess at that!

His wife was due this last Feb, I hope she has had the baby by now.

:rotfl::rotfl2: Picture this: Boarding CM smiles as he/she does a head to toe appraisal of slightly Pooh shaped female guest. "Good morning! I see you are going to be having a little Pirate or Princess soon. For your safety, we can't allow you to board this attraction. But here's a bonus fastpass that you can present when you come back on your next visit!" Pooh shaped female guest glares at CM and huffs "I'm not pregnant! Why would you assume I'm pregnant??!! I'm outraged and insulted!!! I demand to see your supervisor!"

Yeah, that would go well. I think Disney assumes pregnant guests are competent adults who can make their own decisions once given suitable warnings. If they go on a ride they are warned against, it's on them if something goes wrong.

True true :-) and didn't realize it was an old post. Oops! I need more coffee.

as someone who is going in about 3 weeks and will also be 6 months pregnant when i go...i just wouldnt risk the ride. dinosaur and star tours are much bumpier than you would expect.

my doctors have advised me to just follow the signs....im still bummed about splash- i just dont see the issue with it. but i wont argue with safety.

in the end whatever you feel comfortable with doing is going to be your choice. i wouldnt judge you because what you choose to do is your life- not mine! but with that being said just remember you may have to contend with people and their comments and suggestions when you are there

regardless, i hope you have a wonderful time!!

I realize this is an old thread that got bumped up, but wanted to point out that Soarin' does not have any restrictions that would affect pregnancy.

The only warnings are for fear of heights and motion sickness.
