Is there a list somewhere that states rides/shows that you definitely can or can not video tape or take photos in? If not, can we start a list here as to what people know for a fact can/ can not be done w/this? Thanks.

The ones I know for sure that you can't videotape are--

Magic Kingdom: Carousel of Progress and Stitch's Great Escape
Epcot: Universe of Energy (actually, this one is contradictory, because the preshow says no videotaping, but when you get into the theater it says "no external video lighting"), Honey I Shrunk the Audience, American Adventure
Disney-MGM: Star Tours, Rock 'n Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, Who Wants to be a Millionaire (but it's closing in a few days), One Man's Dream

There are some other attractions that will say "no external video lighting"-- this usually means it's OK to tape as long as you don't use any camera lights or flip-out LCD screens.

Also, on some occasions, the CM may forget to tell you not to videotape. This seems to happen often on Tower of Terror.

You can take pictures on most attractions-- there are only a couple that don't allow it-- but most indoor attractions don't allow flash photography. Taking pictures without the flash on these attractions is usually OK if they come out.

I sat behind a family once on the safari, and mom videotaped the baby, sitting on the lap of someone else, during the entire safari. They werent even LOOKING at the baby, she was looking at the animals while she held the camera on the kid, bumping along the road.... I thought.. that was one video I cant imgaine wouldnt make me sick trying to watch! hOPE THEY had some pretty amazing 'steady hand' built into that thing. I got tired of lugging my video camera after a few trips, so i dont even bring one now.

Our camera/video has an Infra-red/low light feature that they don't like either :confused3

Found out on PotC. Well they didn't like the external infra-red anyway. The built-in one was ok. Got some nice Green views of the dark rides. :wizard:

If you videotape a ride please be considerate of the people behind you in the car etc. On Snow white some idiot taped the whole ride by holding the camera up and between he and his wife completely blocking the view of my 5 year old! I hope he can edit the sound on the tape or else he is going to have to listen to me asking him to hold it in front of himself and not up in front of us, several times and then me saying how rude he was and how sorry I was to my son that after waiting in line he couldn't even see anything. This was not one of the small cameras.

I had a front row seat one time and taped the whole show :confused3

there was never an annoucement about video

the tape came out great by the way :goodvibes

Just FYI, on my photo site www.disneyworldpics.com I have a forum created for this specifically.

I have some listed as it is but if anyone has any to add, please add them there.

Also, the rules change frequently so update as needed.

Let me just throw in my 2 cents...
I was video taping POTC a few years ago and I had my 'night vision' mode on. Apparently, the cast members that moniter the ride from a secret room or whatever THINK that when you have on NIGHT MODE, it casts a glare on THEIR cameras of the rides and it gives the illusion that my camera bright light was on. I even got yelled at and told to "TURN OFF THE LIGHT ON MY CAMERA"
I think someone should tell the CMs that when night vision is on, no light is actually disturbing the ride.

Since POTC is a "dark" ride, they probably use low light cameras for monitoring the ride. The "night vision" mode of most video cameras use an IR light and that would look like a spot light glare to any low light camera. Of course, that doesn't mean they need to yell at any body.

Yep, that's what they are doing. They didn't complain about my built-in IR, but, then again, there is enough IR in most rides to not need the built in light.
