Rides Too Scary for a 2-Year Old

We took our 2 1/2 yr. old daughter and my wife did an excellent job of talking her through all of the rides especially through the scary parts. My wife would get her attention and laugh and talk about how things were make believe and do all she could to get her to smile if it appeared that our daughter had some concern about anything. Obviously every child is different, but parents play a major role in determining how their children react to new and unknown things like amusement park attractions.

It really depends on the child. When my oldest was two he was fine with "Bug's Life" but once he was old enough to realize that Hopper was a bad guy he almost flipped out when he showed up during the show. Both of my kids have always enjoyed POTC and HM. My oldest loved HM but hated the tombstone out front with "the eyes" - he'd hide from them but once inside he was fine. My youngest did not enjoy Maelstrom because of the freaky looking talking tree. Both have always liked Ellen's Energy ride but I have always covered their ears during the 'big bang'. Snow White was another that that the enjoyed and Soarin' they want to go on over and over and over.

I have a nephew that practically tried climbing out of the boat at POTC yet my younger niece was fine with it so you really can't predict how a child will react.
