The FastPass+ experience group tiers are about to change for both Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Effective now, FastPass+ selections for June 16 2014 and later will be subject to the following changes.

At the Studios 'The Great Movie Ride' moves to group 1.
At Epcot 'Living with the Land' moves to group 1.
At Epcot 'Character Spot' and 'Maelstrom' move to group 2.
If you already have selections made from the old groups, they will continue to be valid unless you cancel them.

People are going to read this and assume you're lying.

Then they are going to laugh at how ridiculous it is. Is there some sort of refurb/major addition I wasn't aware of?

I don't get it either......and Great Movie Ride as a Tier 1???????? Don't get me wrong, I love the ride, but there's never been much of a wait, why do they even have FP+ for it?

This isn't the first time I have heard this so maybe it is true. This will make ride choices even better though.....at least for Epcot.

I wish I was lying this just shows that Epcot doesn't have many tier 1 type attractions

I actually like the change to the Cot as now I can do FP for TT and Malestrom which has been 20 mins or longer lately...As for HS as long as they don't make ToT tier 1 along with TSMM and RnRC I'll be perfectly fine

:rotfl: Good thing a source was included! :thumbsup2

Don't get me wrong - I love Living with the Land, but hahahaha. This makes me so happy Maelstrom is moving to group 2. I can deal with this Tier'd system!

Wow! Since I already had FP+ booked for the Land and GMR before the switch, I was now able to trade those for TT and RnRC. Now we have Soarin and TT for our Epcot day and RnRC and Fantasmic for our HS day. Super bonus from news tip. Thank you

They should just leave it alone...

Any mention of their "classification system" brings attention to the stale crackers approach to operations that Disney has long decided was good enough to name their prices without justification.

I think making these two typical 'walk on' attractions tier 1 will revert them back to their pre-FP short line status. I expect that it will bring at least some rides back to a mostly single queue system which should shorten the lines for them...

Of course - only time will tell if disney did this on purpose or if it was another glitch...

I don't think this switch was a glitch they did it intentionally based on feed back there finding. I'm sure not many people are using maelstrom because it was tier 1 with TT and soarin so they moved it down and took an attraction that shouldn't even have FP to tier 1.

Its a win for me anyways I just got a FP for TSMM and RnR for my July trip because of the switch.

I was excited and thought I could change my GMR to TSM and went to FP+ and had booked Star Tours. BOO. :( Congrats to those who changed though!

Whatever happened to good old fashion first come first served.

The reason they have to move low value attractions up is they need to balance the number of FP+ available each day across each tier or they will run out of the ones we really want long before anyone could get them same day.

That's the result when you
a) heavily promote FP+ increasing participation
b) allow advance scheduling but don't want to run out in advance

So, are you saying that this will more evenly distribute Tier 2 attractions? I don't think it improves balance of Tier 1s ?

There is no way at Epcot to evenly distribute them. Soarin and test track are the only ones that deserve that ranking.

Im sure some families with small children or some adults only doing world showcase may have picked character stop and maelstrom....but I agree with you still, which is why I dont understand what I quoted....
