Rides Per Day

On our MK day, we did 8 rides the whole day. We were in the parks in the morning until probably 3-4PM, and then came back around 7PM for more.

We did not rope drop, and unfortunately my FP were scattered throughout the whole day because I didn't plan the best and didn't schedule them until 25 days before the trip. However, my four year old didn't care to do any roller-coasters, or "thrill rides" - so all of the Mountains were not part of our plans. Something else that wasn't part of our plans was rushing around - I wanted to take the trip so my DS could enjoy himself and we could take our time, and it was truly great. He is more into shopping, eating, and seeing the sights!

However, if I would have planned my FP more appropriately I am sure that we would have gotten more rides in!

We use the Touringplans.com optimization software, have two adults that do the MK (ages 57 and 22 -- DH skips), use FP a little (but as off site visitors don't get FP for things like 7DMT and will wait in one or two longer lines), get there at rope drop, stay past fireworks, do counter service not sit down meals, have some time for just soaking things in, and average 12 MK attractions for the day, not counting the parade and the projection show and fireworks which we also do. We are at the park typically 12-14 hours too. This is for a relatively busy day at the park -- crowd level 7 or 8 with no morning extra magic hours.

I think this will depend a lot on your schedule.
If you have young kids, factor in parking and retrieving a stroller; getting them loaded and unloaded; bathroom stops; sunscreen breaks; oooh and aaaah stops; picture stops; someone wondering where they left their sunglasses, putting new batteries in the camera...)

Yes, to this part, and also any folks with limited mobility/slower pace, anyone who needs frequent snacks, anyone who gets easily distracted, insists on sleeping late/perfect hair, etc.

Adults often slow the group just as much as kids, sometimes they are worse. :)

For a group to cover 20 rides, you need some ground rules, and a group that knows how to tour effectively. Even still, things can go unexpectedly wrong, like a foot injury or a ticket/magicband malfunction.
