Rides or DA for early admission?

DS and I have two days at US/IOA 5/13 (Mother's Day) and 14. This is our first Universal trip. Crowds around 3 both days. I think US has early admission both days. We are typically rope drop ride junkies at DW. No shopping in the morning!

However I feel like we may be in a different boat with HP, and am reading posts that spending the first hour doing DA might be a good use of time? Interactive wands will be a surprise for DS, and I think doing spells and exploring the shops will be a big deal to him.

Extra info: We have UEPs. Presume we will ride the HP rides multiple times in two days. He's too short for Hulk, Dr Doom is a no, and RRR probably too intense for him with the first hill. Mummy may be too, just because of the theming, but I'm hoping he will try it. We won't do babyish rides.

Best use of time for early admission hour with a 9 yr old HP lover?

Sounds like if you are wanting to take advantage of early admission that you are staying onsite as that is an option for onsite guest only?

Unlimited Express is free with stays at HRH, RPR and PBH.

I would take advantage of early entry if you are morning folks. Do the wand show at Ollivanders in Diagon Alley.
Would be nice if your son got picked to participate in the wand show. He can pick a interactive wand of his favorite Potter character.

Read all the sticky’s on The Potter Parks. As a lot of Potter fans have given inforation on all the fun things to look for.

Hi yes since you will have EP I would use the early entry time for DA. It is so nice to be able to walk around and see everything without a sea of people. My DD and I love walking in there first thing in the morning and taking our time with everything. You will have time and not have to rush doing the spells. It can take a couple of times to get it and I always feel rushed when there is a line behind me.

If you have park to park, when you are done with DA I would take the Hogwarts Express over to IOA and Hogsmeade. This again will be nicer to walk around there before it gets too busy. If you don't have park to park I would be in line the other day to get in at opening and go right up to Hogsmeade.

Having the EP will help you with the rides later so you need not worry about waiting too long.

Enjoy!

That's great! Staying on-site is awesome! We won't do multiple parks without a "hopper" I like the freedom to move around.
