My son wants to go to ak park on our next trip. My husband said I can stay at the bcv pool and relax (5 months pregnant). But, I love ak too. Besides bug's life and the train, is there anything else I can do at ak? Thanks!

Check with your doctor, but if it is an an uncomplcated pregancy typcially anything that is not very high g force (like dinosaur) should be OK , soaring would be a good example of something that would be OK for almost anyone.

I think soaring is at epcot. I can't remember if the safari ride is off limits. Does Disney prevent you from riding certain rides if pregnant? Does anyone know where I could find a list of attractions with warnings? Thanks!

When we were ther over the Christmas holidays, my DIL who was 6 months pregnant, was advised not to do the safari ride as it gets quite bumpy when they "chase" the poachers

I rode the Safari at 14 weeks; my friend rode it at 6 months. It all depends on what you feel comfortable doing.

At AK there are the two animal treks (walking) and the Lion King and Finding Nemo shows and the Flights of Wonder show. As you mentioned the train and Bug's Life. All things that are not rough and I think are very enjoyable. :thumbsup2

I do think the safari ride has warnings, but I rode with both pregnancies. I would suggest trying to get a front seat though since the back gets really bumpy!

Many people suggest that the Safari is less bumpy closer to the front, but it is still quite bumpy. We sit in the front seat because youngest DD needs to stay in her wheelchair; we still get bounced around a lot. It all depends on which ruts your ride car hits. I have also ridden it without DD, and have found the farther back seats are about the same (unless you are talking about the back 1/3 of the tram). Also, the tram is quite far off the ground; in case of a problem with the tram, you will need to get off of the tram without aid of the boarding area which raises you closer to the level of the seats.

You can look at the park maps for the attractions with warnings - they are marked with a red triangle on the map and also on a sign at the entrance to the queue.
The wording for the general warning is:
WARNING! For safety, you should be in good health and free from high blood pressure, heart, back or neck problems, motion sickness, or other conditions that could be aggravated by this adventure. Expectant mothers should not ride.

For Animal Kingdom, here are the attractions with warnings:
  • Kilimanjaro Safari
  • Kali River Rapids
  • Expedition Everest
  • Primeval Whirl
  • Dinosaur
The Safari and Kali River Rapids are listed because you can get unexpected hard bumps and drops during the course of the ride. Some moms late in pregnancy have posted it felt like the baby was using their bladder as a trampoline, so it was not exactly comfortable.
Primeval Whirl and Dinosaur are just quite rough and bounce guests around a lot.

ANd, just in case you decided to go to another park, for Epcot here are the attractions with warnings:
  • Mission Space the sign outside the attraction says that pregnant women are advised not the ride both the more tame (green side) and the more wild (orange side)
  • Test Track
For Magic Kingdom:
  • Splash Mountain
  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
  • Tomorrowland Indy Speedway
  • Space Mountain
  • Goofy's Barnstormer (this doesn't have a triangle warning sign on the map, but does say that pregnant women should not ride)
For Disney Studio
  • Star Tours
  • Rock N Roller Coaster
  • Tower of Terror

Soarin' doesn't have any warnings that would affect pregnancy; just heights and possible motion sickness. There are some scents used on the ride (ocean air, oranges, pine) that you may want to be aware of if you are sensitive to smells.

The main drop is the reason for not riding Splash Mountain. The big drop takes you down at a very extreme angle at a high rate of speed (I think you get to 40 mph). At the bottom, your ride car stops abruptly. That sort of combination of fast speed drop at an extreme angle and then abrupt stop can theoretically cause placental abruption - where the placenta actually peels away from the wall of the uterus. That's the main reason for warnings at Splash Mountain.
For rides like Dinosaur, Star Tours, Test Track, Big Thunder Mountain you are not moving that fast, but experience sudden changes of direction that jerk you around a lot.

I don't know about a list, but if you go to the specific park on disneyworld.com and click on attractions on the left, you can check out the policies for each attraction. The more jolty ones usually say "Expectant mothers should not ride." Disney does not prevent you from riding. In fact they aren't supposed to point out the pregnant item, rather if the cast member is concerned they will just ask the group if they've read the warning signs. There have probably been instances where cm's have told people not to ride because they thought the guest was pregnant - but the guest wasn't = guest relations nightmare.

Seeing "it's tough to be a bug" while pregnant will probably make your baby bug-phobic. :)

Lots of great advice! We have park hoppers so maybe we can do some of the tame rides at various parks! Thanks!
