I was shocked to read on another thread that babies in a wearable carrier/slings are allowed on some rides. Has anyone gone with a baby and was able to ride some things? If so which rides? Is there a list? I am preggo and want to plan a trip immediately after birth for when the baby is 4-5 months old preferably. I am happily shocked that some rides allow babies in carriers on :) If I know which ones I can plan YAY!

Babies can go on anything that doesn't have a height restriction...when my girls were young i would keep them in the sling as long as i (and the baby) was comfortable.

We're going in May when our son is just 3 months old. They can ride on or go in to any attraction that doesn't have a height requirement. I never read that a sling or carrier is required (but I plan to use one anyway.) The thing that I plan to do is test the waters with him. I think the biggest thing to remember about taking an infant on rides is to respect the other people enjoying the attraction. I won't take my son on rides or attractions if I find that he cries on them. My plan is not to have a plan :) Good luck with your pregnancy and planning for your next trip! I can't wait to take my son for the first time!

i have never taken a baby to disney, but when my kids were little they were always in a carrier/sling. (i have never used a stroller). i found it to be very convenient- basically the baby was part of my (or DH's) body, so nothing else to worry about. i found that they would actually sleep alot if carried when they were very young (they would scream if not held) and it was also easy to breastfeed and still have at least one hand free and be able to walk around at the same time. (great for the grocery store btw)
** with a light blanket thrown over the carrier, no one will ever know the baby is eating. if they know you have a baby in a carrier under the blanket, they'll assume s/he is sleeping. but i can't tell you how many times i've heard "what do you have under there?" umm... a baby... :confused3

I use a sling with my baby and there were a couple of times I had to take him out in order to ride. One that comes to mind is Winnie the Pooh (or one of the other Fanstasyland rides like it, not absolutely sure, due to mommy brain!)---the bar comes down and will hit the baby if you are holding him up against your stomach. I just took him out and cradled him next to me, it was no big deal. HTH!!!

Here is a list of some of the rides I have taken my kids on when they were infants in a Baby Bjorn carrier:
MK:
Haunted Mansion
Dumbo
Snow White's Scary Adventures
Peter Pan
It's a Small World
Winnie the Pooh
Buzz Lightyear ride
TTA
Mickey's Philharmagic
WDW Railroad
Pirates
Magic Carpets of Aladdin
Jungle Cruise

Epcot:
Maelstrom
Nemo ride

AK:
Safari

DHS:
Great Movie Ride
Muppet's 3D
Playhouse Disney Live

All of the shows like Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid, etc...

Hope that helps! Basically like others have said anything without a height restriction. My kids almost always fell asleep on the dark rides like Haunted Mansion.

Be sure to take advantage of the Baby Care stations at each park. They are fantastic!

You don't need a carrier of any type to take your baby on the attractions. My son was 6 months old on his first trip and he saw/rode everything that didn't have a height restriction -- he simply was held by someone.

Great point! OP, in no way do you have to have the baby in any type of carrier to go on the ride with him/her. I actually found it so much easier to have the baby in the carrier when standing waiting on the long lines.

Our son ride anything without a height restriction in the baby Bjorn at 11 mos and then again at 22 mos. I recommend it to everyone. Dont bring a backpack, I say, because you do have to take the baby off on the rides, where as a baby in a front carrier can go from line to ride and off again without moving.

It would be easier to list what they can't get on. Anything without a height restriction you can take a baby on. And you could choose to hold the baby in your lap or wear the baby in a sling.

Just an FYI, the Great Movie Ride is very loud for babies, particularly if you have them in a sling or are holding them in the cradle position. The speaker will be right at the baby's level (it is right above your knees in the back of the seat in front of you.) I held my hands over DS's ears during the whole ride and beware of the gangster scene....the cap guns are loud!

Another good point! It's also loud in It's tough to be a bug, Honey I shrunk the Audience. I wouldn't take in infant on those. When my kids were babies they always were fast asleep during The Great Movie Ride, Haunted Mansion and the WDW Railroad!LOL Those rides just put them to sleep!!LOL

I echo the other posts. We used a carrier (not a backpack) for all rides without height restrictions.

My youngest DS was 3 mos for his first trip. I had him in the Baby Bjorn almost the entire time. It was actually easier getting on and off the rides (and the buses) with him in the carrier, so I could have my hands free. Like others have posted, pretty much anything without a height restriction is doable. We were at MK the first day, and the beginning of the day I was wearing him facing in, but when we got on IASW, he got really fussy. I tried to calm him. He had just been changed, and he just ate, so I thought maybe he was tired. I tried rocking him, but he was getting madder and madder by the minute. Finally I took him out of the carrier and had him sitting on my lap. He immediately stopped crying. He wanted to see everything that was going on too. :) After that, he was facing out the rest of the trip, and he was perfectly happy.

My ds went to DL at 7 mos and rode everything! Well, everything with no height restrictions. There really are not that many rides with height restrictions so other than the thrill rides, you are good to go.

Oh, and I have a backpack (not framed backpack) style carrier. It's a beco (similar to ergo, etc) that I used for him at 20 mos. When we got to the ride I flipped him to the front. I wouldn't recommend the Beco for a 4 mos old, though. I'd get a mei tai.

You guys rock!!!! Thanks so much!!!!! This is so helpful!
