My ds is 16 and has high functioning autism/aspergers. He loves roller coasters. I was just wandering if anybody elses kids like them. His big thing he hates is fire, loud booms (doesn't care for close fireworks!), and people invading his personal space.

Space Mountain, Big Thunder and (if I remember correctly) Expedition Everest not any noisier than your typical coaster. I'd definately avoid the Aerosmith coaster though - lots of loud music.

DS 14 sounds just like your DS. He loves ALL of the thrill rides. Rockin Roller Coaster, Everest, TOT and Spae Mountain are his favs.

DS (11) has NLD which is a lot like Asperger's. He has been a roller coaster fanatic since he was old enough to get one roller coasters. (I think Big Thunder Mountain was his first real coaster when he was four.) He "planned" a roller coaster vacation for us last summer. We went to Cedar Point in Ohio and Busch Gardens Williamsburg. (We made him do some adult stuff in between in Washington DC.) But it has made for some great family fun. His favorite coasters: Millenium Force in Cedar Point. (I never thought I'd get on that one, seriously, but I did!) The Hulk in Universal IOA. and Expedition Everest in AK. This summer we're going to Europe. He talked us into visiting ONE theme park there, so we'll be going to Alton Towers in England, where I'll be dragged onto something called Oblivion. Oh My! Life with a roller coaster fan is always interesting.

My DD who turned 7 yesterday and is also high functioning ASD LOVES roller coasters. She will even sits on the sofa and pretends to be riding one!!! We live in Ohio and are contemplating taking the kids to Cedar Point because they have so many coasters. Unfortunately her brother who is 9 doesn't like them but since DH and I are both coaster freaks we are trying to lure him over to the dark side. That and trying to figure out where he came from :rotfl:

My son (7) has Asperger's Syndrome and loves to go to Disney, but won't ride most of the rides. He loves BTM, but I think it's only because it is a train!! He is obsessed with roller coasters (how they're made and all the dimentions of them) but will not ride them. At home, he spends most of his time watching shows about how they're built or looking at the ride videos on different theme park websites. We tried to get him on EE, but he chickened out just as he ws lifting his foot off the ground to get in!!! So we joke that he rides the benches with my sis while I ride the rides with my neice!!
When we go to WDW, we spend ALOT of time on the monorail, WDW Railroad, and Spaceship Earth -- which is fine with me -- it's all about making him happy!!!
