Hello,

I will be taking my 4 year old to Disneyland later this month along with my parents. They are in their 70s (72 and 73); however, they will be using ECVs due to the long distance walking/arthritis/other health conditions. This will be everyone's first time at Disneyland. I would like my parent to experience as much of Disneyland as they can, we have 5 day park hoppers. They can walk fine short distances; however, they need a little time to be able to get in and out of a ride safely.

Here are a list of some rides I was hoping they could go on. I've been unable to find out if they are easy to step in/out of safely.

Casey Junior Circus train
Autopia
Jungle Cruise
Pirates of Caribbean
Haunted Mansion
Winnie the Pooh
Storybook Land canal boats
Peter Pan
Tiki Room
Snow White
Alice in Wonderland
Monster Inc
Soarin
Grizzy River Run

Do any of these rides look not suitable, or that they might be difficult to get in and out? I do not want to get them dizzy/sick/injured.

Also, please let me know if there are any other suggestions of rides/experiences they might enjoy. I've already schedule WOC dessert party, parade dining experience, character breakfast.

NOTE TO EVERYONE - the poster is asking about DISNEYLAND
I will add what I know offhand and update later. There are posters who go to DL who should be able to add.

On the Disneyland website, you can look at all attractions. You can sort the list to show attractions such as, those with health warnings. This is the standard warning:
  • WARNING! For safety, you should be in good health and free from high blood pressure, heart, back or neck problems, motion sickness, or other conditions that could be aggravated by this adventure. Expectant mothers should not ride.
I added the warnings to your list.
Grizzy River Run - warning. The river raft spins and has small drops. Probably get wet and could get soaked. 42 inch height requirement.

Autopia - warning, probably mostly because of bumping. 32 inch height requirement.

Soarin - many people think there are health warnings, but the only warnings are fear of heights and possible motion sickness. 40 inch height requirement.

I did not check for which ride queues for other attractions were not ECV accessible (just the ones you listed). Those that are not ECV accessible queues will have a wheelchair guests can switch to. Those with a wheelchair accessible ride car will also have a wheelchair at the attraction that you can request to use.

I added what I know for the rest, but mostly from pictures or knowing it is similar to WDW. I'm sure others will add or correct:

Casey Junior Circus train -slow train ride. Stops for all guests

Jungle Cruise - the boat stops for all guests, but it is a free floating boat with big step down to get in and another step down to sit. There is a wheelchair accessible boat that can hold one wheelchair or one ECV

Pirates of Caribbean - small drops. Stops for all guests. Big step down to get in and another step down to sit.

Haunted Mansion - a transfer accessible doombuggy is available with a larger side cutout, larger opening. There is a moving walkway, but if using a mobility device, you will Board where CMs can stop it.

Winnie the Pooh -stops for all guests to board. Fairly level step in.

Storybook Land canal boats - there are dome steps getting on and off

Peter Pan - the DL version of Peter Pan stops for all guests and has a pirate ship with a small step in. The WDW version of this attraction has similar ships, but has a moving walkway which does not stop.

Tiki Room - a classic show. There are wheelchair and ECV spots.

Snow White - does have a wheelchair accessible vehicle that can be requested

Alice in Wonderland - I believe it stops for all guests. There is a transfer assist boat (probably bigger opening)

Monster Inc - the queue is not ECV accessible, but is wheelchair accessible. There is a wheelchair accessible ride vehicle.

Sue gave you some great tips.

I would add that using a cane to push myself up out of the boats was a big help.

The circus train stops but the seats are tight and the cages impossible for me to get into. Have your parents consider that one carefully. There also seemed to be a lot of confusion with kids and ride operators here. But it is one of my favorites

Monsters did not give me a problem but I can still walk fast for short distances.

Stay on the scooter for Small World as it contains steps. You enter from the exit. That one caught me by surprise.

My other tip is that often ECV riders enter the ride from the exit in Fantasyland. Ask a cast member.

We rented from Deckerts so as to have the scooter from the hotel to the parks.

Have fun.

I would second what a PP said about using a cane to help getting up and out of the boat rides. granted I used at WDW but assume it would also help at Disneyland

So I think autotopia and jungle cruise are hard to get in and out of. Soarin will be the easiest on your list. I would add little mermaid to your list of rides. Mickey and the magical map is great and easy to access. The frozen musical is amazing. Worth the time for sure. The bugs life ride is great and theater seating. Toy story and the fun wheel (non moving car) will be doable. Generally at Disneyland you will go to the exit and get a return time. At dca most cues are accessible

The Storybook Land canal boats are real boats and you must step down into the boat (step is not deep). When you disembark, everyone must stand at the same time (to avoid the boat tipping). The CMs are allowed to take your hand to steady you, on or off the boat.

Grizzly River rapids is a big step down into a moving circular raft vehicle from a slow-moving platform. I think they can stop the moving platform though, but not quote me on that. You will get SOAKED on this ride.

Alice in Wonderland does a complete stop for vehicle loading.

My not to be missed attractions--Mickey and the Magical Map, Frozen musical, Soaring', Storybook Land Canal boats, and Alice in Wonderland. The alst two are all about nostalgia for me.

For grizzly you board at a different shoot with a non movimg platform. Its not much of a step down and the raft is pulled off the ride path. I think it is a super fun ride. Its a little wild but suitable if they don't mind being jostled. If they can do the steps at the other boat rides they will be fine on this one.
