i really want to go on as much as i can but i am scared of heights and rollercoasters make me sick looking at them. this being said i have never went on any so i wanna try to push my boundries a little. what rides would you suggest. are there loops in btm *** i dont think i could handle that lol. what is poc like? what should i avoid completely? i wanna try crushs coaster but if it is very all over the place maybe not. does it spin around very fast? i think i could handle going fast if i wasnt spinning around just as fast lol.

thanks for any advice

I'm not sure you'd like Crush's - we did it last week and it's quite fast - DB and Mum hated it, which is quite something saying DB went on the very fast wooden roller coaster at Asterix twice.

Casey Jr is a very tame coaster and is something you could do.

BTM has no loops and is quite good fun - Mum and DB really like this one.

Personally I'd avoid the "big 3" coasters in your position (RnR, SM and IJ).

POTC is a fairly tame ride - there's 2 drops, both of which are quite small and you can kind of see them coming.

Youtube is a good resource for this kind of question - if you search for the ride in question then they usually have some on-ride videos which should give you some idea of what they're like. DLRPMagic.com also has some good videos for this.

I would say to start of with Casey Jr, then if that's ok try BTM (just really a much faster version of Casey Jr, then if that's ok and you wanted to then try loops I'd go for SM2 or RnR (as they are in the dark).

This is basically the way I started on rollercoasters (although when I did it Casey JR didn't exist)

My Mum is scared stiff or rollercoasters but loves Casy Jr and BTM so I really think you would be fine on both of these!

My mum really is scared of roller coasters but absolutely LOVES btm!!

Also POTC will be fine for you! The drops are vry very small, babys can go on! I even read on the breast feeding thread recently that a lady fed on the ride! That's how tame it is!! But its fun fun fun! So please don't let the drops put you off. They are only about 6tf high and not very steep at all.

Okay - all time scaredy cat posting here. Just watching the Youtube video of BTM makes my stomach churn and my head swim so I have never tried it in real life.

If you are like me (doesn't do Waltzers at the fair, doesn't even like the feeling of going over humped back bridges in cars, hates taking off in planes, or even the slight bump as the plane evens out) then read on.

I was very wary of POTC as I read it had 2 small drops - what other people describe as 'little baby drops' do horrible things to my insides! However I saw that there is no safety bar or seatbelt in the boat so I figured I would be ok. It is now my favourite ride, but I still don't like the first drop to be honest. I close my eyes and grip the rail tight and wait for it to end.

People think it very funny that I am proud of myself for going on Casey Jr - they tell me it's a small kids ride. I don't care - for me Casey is a big deal....and about as fast as I go! :teeth:

I'm not too keen on Orbitron as it feels abit unsafe to me but I'm okay with Flying Carpets and Dumbo, as long as my fellow riders don't do the 'bumpy' thing.

I avoid the following like the plague:
TOT, RnRC, Crush and Cars Race Rally in the Studios
BTM, IJ, SM2 and the Teacups in the main Park.

I have queued for each of those rides just to see the theming and have then chicken-exited at the last minute. I still have a fabulous time, though and still think it's worth going back again and again.

im a scaredy cat too , so shud be fun lol:dance3:

Cars is actually a lot of fun and not too bad. Mum hates the teacups and won't touch them with a ten foot barge pole with a Mickey Mouse head on the end, but she really enjoyed Cars (I believe it's her favourite ride in the Studios).

She does also like BTM though. DLP is generally well designed for chickens, although IMO it could do with a couple of extra thrill rides for us adrenaline junkies ;)

I don't do rollercoasters but I love BTM it's fab and not at all scary. POTC is fun too and the first drop usually leaves my tummy behind but it's great fun ... my two year old loved every minute back in June. I don't do IJ as it goes upside down and I certainly wouldn't do Crush .... my hubby does rollercoasters, etc and he loved Crush even though you get chucked about a bit but he was grey when he came of ToT !! I had to laugh ! Don't do SM after my hair got stuck in it, did it the once and never again !

Ow!

Jack and I bothhad really bruised shoulders after goin on this during EMH each day of our trip. It certainly isn't kind to riders! But so much fun I can forgive it.

I dont find any of the rollercoasters at either park scary...but my nerves cant take ToT, I was screaming my lungs out long before we dropped, and spent a while afterwards shaking!

Will be back on it in January though - hopefully with a more level head!

Is TOT really that bad? I find it a lot easier to do than the drop towers you find at some parks (e.g. Detonator at Thorpe Park / Apocalype at Drayton Manor etc). These towers feel much more sudden when they drop than TOT! Maybe it's just me :)

Oh yeah, it doesn't drop far at all, it's just the not knowing that gets me i think!

Honestly I don't know why I was so scared, but you know when the family in the mirror drop, and the lift jolts? I screamed so much people in our lift laughed at me, and for the rest of the ride jack was crying with laughter at me.

I'm not a fan of detonator really either, but would go to TP just for Stealth! I looove it! Shame nemesis and colossus aren't very good....

I dont do roller coasters either but absolutely adore BTM although it took until our 3rd trip there to enjoy it rather than just suffer it.
I would ride it over and over again now though.

I wont do upside down rides so thats SM, IJ and RRC out and dont think I could cope with crush- too much spinning at speed etc

However some of you may remember I was really proud of myself at Easter as I was very brave and did TOT and loved it. I didnt find it as scary as I thought I would. I would have happily done it again this last trip but we didnt spend long in the studios and DD didnt want to do it again and we didnt want to push her

The one ride I really hate though is Orbitron - Im fine on Dumbo and Flying carpets but feel as though Im going to fall out of Orbitron. Im petrified. I did it last month but only as Id said to DD she could go on it and then DH said at teh last minute he didnt want to do it so I had to go on - I wouldnt let her go very high though and clung on for dear life
