Rides for a Mom with a baby in a sling

We'll be in Disneyland in 3 weeks with daughter, son-in-law, grandsons, 5 year old and a 5 month old. I was wondering which rides others have gone on with a baby in a sling. I guess the only ones I'm really wondering about are Splash Mountain and maybe Star Tours. I know Haunted Mansion, Pirates, Nemo, etc. are OK. Don't think we'll be taking him on Space Mountain or California Screamin' ! Grandpa would be more than happy to stay behind for those rides!

You can look up height requirements on disneyland.com, but I would say definately no on splash mountain, the baby would fall out! You can also do the parent switch pass on most rides, where if one parent (grandparent) stays off with the baby, as soon as your group is done with the ride, the person who stayed off can go on the ride with one other person and pretty much get to the front of the line. We did this last time we went and will be doing this again this year.

I would also say no on StarTours! I can barely keep my own body in place on that ride.

Splash and Star Tours both have height requirements of 40 inches. So no, absolutely not, the baby won't be able to go on at all. Therefore, learn about Rider Switch (or baby swap, child swap, etc) unless grandpa is willing to stay with baby and not ride on many rides!

The CMs can ask you (er, tell you) (and when I say "you" I mean your daughter or son in law or you too!) to take baby out of the sling for any no-height-requirement rides. I didn't have to take DS out at all, but his first trip he was in a mei tai, on my front, facing me, and was VERY secure. Don't get me wrong, I feel that a properly worn sling is just as secure, but people who aren't sling-knowledgable have the whole Baby Bjorn thing in their head, and I've read on mouseplanet that the CMs are happier with the Bjorn-style carriers than cloth slings (I guess they don't know that plastic buckles can break?). Whatever!

But unless you get a CM like that, you might be able to wear baby on Peter Pan, the "dark" rides like Snow White (extra benefit of baby on those rides...they don't know that it's scary!!!), railroad, HM, Buzz, Pirates... basically anything without the height requirement. But again, the CM might not allow the sling at all, so be prepared for that!

Is the baby more than 40 inches tall? A sling won't replace the height requirement.

As a baby-wearing local I've experienced all kinds of responses to sling use on rides. My favorite was when my 3mo newborn was sleeping in the Maya pouch and the CM would not let me ride Dumbo because the baby was not "facing forward properly".

Definite no on Splash and Star Tours... I never had problems on Pirates... I was sometimes asked to remove her from the sling on Haunted Mansion, sometimes not... you just never know what you're going to get from a CM.

I know this can seem a bit extreme but it's procedure for ALL riders to be facing forward.

To the original poster, all the Fantasyland attractions are fine for baby as well as Winnie the Pooh over in Critter Country.

In California Adventure; Monster's Inc. and most Bug's Land attractions are fine to take the baby on.

The park maps lists all the attraction height requirements and they are also posted outside the attractions.

I used a Baby Bjorn with my 3 month old two different days in two weeks at DL and was never asked to remove him or anything. We went on all the rides without a height requirement. My SIL also had her 2 month old in a sling (can't remember the brand), and she was fine too. As long as there is no height requirement, the baby will be allowed on.
