rides for a 6yr old

My DD will be turning 6 when we go....can she ride the following: Tower of Terror, Space Mountain, Mission Space, Test Track.

Thoughts...

Its not determined by age it determined by height. If you go to www.allearsnet.com If you pull up each ride they give a listing of the Height Restrictions. I just pulled up Space Mountain and that is 44 inches

She is OK on height on all the rides, my question is more about the experience of the ride versus her age...can she handle the rides, are they too scary or intense. I also have the same question about Dinosaur...

To intense....hmmm.... that is really up to what you think she can handle. I know 4 y/o that this Haunted Mansion is a joke and laugh at the ghost and 7 y/o that ball there eyes out.

Do I think Dinosaur is a scarry ride I would say OH YES. Hell scared the daylights out of me and im 28. But yet I like that thrill and still ride it every time we go.

I would leave it up to the child to deside. Take her to thunder mountain let her see what its like before you stand in line. If she likes it then go to Splash and Space. Now ToT and RR are little different since they have the drops. And RR has the rolls. But if she liked the other coasters then take her on she might just love them all. Test Track is a neat ride and only time its of speed is when you hit the outdoors and it only last but a few moments.

My daughter just turned 7, but last summer she rode Mission Space & loved it (I on the other hand did not!). She has not been on any 'thrill' ride at Disney that she did not like, however. When we went in the fall, she was finally tall enough to ride everything. The only rides she has not ridden are RNR and TOT but plans on riding them this summer. As someone else posted, it all depends on the child. We tell our daughter to try it once and if she doesn't like it, she doesn't have to do it again. Good luck and have fun!

You have to leave it to her....test her on stuff like cinderellas scary adventure and Haunted Mansion and the railroad....If she does those ok she should be good to move on but if she gets scared on say HM cause its dark avoid Dinosaur if she can handle the drops on the railroad she should be ok on ToT...explain to her what is gonna happen and that nothing is gonna hurt her....My 4 year old...loved HM and The railroad and road ToT one time but would not go on it again and I had to take him out of the pre show at Dinosaur cause he was already crying....Dont do what I saw at RnR in December a family with 3 kids all pre teens or teen...boys even....the middle kid was balling his eyes out and his parents were yelling at him and telling him to shut up and ride and that he was not getting off.....the CMs even tried toalking to the parents and they were like nope he is riding....Now I know they were trying to toughen him up or show him that nothing was gonna happen but they way it happened i felt so sorry for this kid....I wanted to say something to them...I thought this kid if he makes thru will be scared for life....So just let the kid decide...I assume that kid was forced on stuff as a child too...it was a bad scene

We just returned from our trip on Sat. My 6 yr old rode EVERYTHING - RNR, TOT, Haunted Mansion, Test Track, Mission Space, Dinosaur. I wouldn't consider her a real dare-devil, but she was up for anything. I did tell her that if anything got scary, to just close her eyes (I used that one myself on Dinosaur -- didn't see a thing!)

My son rode The Dinosaur ride, Test Track, and Splash Mountain when he was 4, he did fine......loved them all. My DH however, will never step foot on Splash Mountain ever again. Now, DS rode Space Mountain last year when he was 6...his first roller coaster ever, and he swore he'd never step foot on another roller coaster ever again! I tried talking him out of it, but he wouldn't listen to me.

It all depends on the child. Last July, my DD (who was 5 at the time) went on ToT with my DW (who was I can't say or she will kill me...), but they came off the ride and one had a great big smile and wanted to go again, the other could have cried like a baby...guess which was which.

I now know that my DD will be going on ToT with daddy from now on

My 6 year old rode Dinosaur and liked it but my 9 year old was scared to death. 9 year old was also scared of splash mtn, but rode Tower of Terror, was OK about it but didn't want to do it again. She rode Rock n' Rollercoaster 4 times and wanted more & more of it so go figure!
6 year old rode would not ride Tower of Terror (doesn't like "drop" rides) but rode Rock n Rollercoaster & loved it. Each kid is different (as you know).

They are not going to get hurt on any ride as long as they meet the height standard, so you/they have to be the judge.

Sometimes she will say Ok, then just before getting on the ride, she will change her mind. If that happens...can we choose to do the child swap at the last moment, in order for the adults to ride. Also, if it is just her and I. Will they let me come back without waiting in line if I have to bring her to her mother who will be outside waiting. Just trying to think of our options

Well it all depends of the child.

My DD is not a daredevil by any stretch was fine on test track at 4 yo. She was a little nervous but enjoyed it. Test Track is the tamest of the 4 rides you listed by far, IMO.

My other DD is very much a dare devil. She went on Space mountain at 7 yo and loved it. She attempted TOT and bailed out before the ride.

I personnally rode space mountain for the first time at 20 YO. I did not like it at all, then again, I am not a fan of rollercoasters!

Mission space was not there our last trip.

Just a warning that Dinosaur is the one ride my now 9 year old refuses to go on when we go next week because it scared him so much last time when he was 5. He's a big thrill ride kid (& can't wait for RnR for the first time), it wasn't the dark (he loved ToT on the same trip), but it was just too intense. I personally used the above advice of closing my eyes because I didn't like it much either!

Depends on the ride. On some rides the child swap is right there as you get on. On others (Test Track comes to mind) you have to tell them you are doing child swap outside where the line entrance is. One adult goes on while the other adult sits outside with the child, does the ride, then comes out, takes the child so the other adult can go through the line. The "child swap" in this case just gets the second adult a fastpass to go through the fastpass line.

In any case, they will not force your child ot get on any ride if you are right there redy to get on, but they may/may not let you do a child swap right there.
