We are considering a trip this fall... We swore we wouldn't return untill our youngest was three....he's six months and we are considering a trip (never say never). . . He would be about 1 when we get there. (We also have a four year old. . .she was to disneyworld last may and has informed us that we should have her brothers 1st birthday party at disney)

here's my question: What rides can he go on with us? Will we always have to use the rider swap or can we go on things as a family? We wouldn't mind a few ride swaps, but, it would be sad to us if we didn't get to do things as a family.

Any thoughts?

He will be able to experience many many attractions with you. Both my children had their first trips between 9-10 months. In fact, there are only a few things at each park, he can't ride. Anything with a height restriction is off limits, but other than that he will be ok.

For instance, there are 41 attractions (including characters and shows) at MK. He will only be excluded from, Big Thunder Mt. RR, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, the Great Goofini, the Speedway, and Seven Dwarfs MineTrain. At Epcot, he would not be able to ride Mission Space, Soarin and Test Track. At AK, he would not be able to ride Everest, Dinosaur, and Primeval Whirl. At DHS, he wouldn't be able to do Star Tours, Rockn' Roller Coaster, and Tower of Terror. Yes, you can use babyswap for those attractions. Pretty much everything else he will be able to ride, which is a far longer list than those attractions he can't. Bonus: your four year old will be able to ride the attractions he is tall enough for (which is most of those) that the baby isn't with each of you so he will get to ride twice.

We took our youngest to Disney when he was just 8 months old and we was able to go on everything that didn't have a height requirement. We even took him on Pirates of the Caribbean (although he cried the whole time, lol). My youngest has been to Disney when he was 8 months then again when he was 20 months and he will be going a 3rd time when he is 3...I don't think its ever to early to start them with a love for Disney LOL...My oldest has been to Disney 4 times already so when we go again next year it will be his 5th time going...and actually we are more excited about next year bc we(more like I) have decided that we don't really need the monorail resort so much anymore bc we won't really need to go back mid day for breaks like in previous trips, so now choosing the hotel has become a little bit more fun because I can involve my family a bit, LOL. My husband would still rather stay monorail, so I know his front runner of a hotel is Contemporary, I myself have my heart set on Poly (but with the prices lately...) I think my next choose would be Wilderness Lodge (I just think its beautiful!)...My older DS would probably LOVE Beach Club bc its pool is absolutely Amazing and Beaches & Cream has a pick up window right at the pool, LOL, and my younger DS would probably love Animal Kingdom bc of all the exotic animals there...arg decisions decisions! LOL, anyways I am sure you will have a memorable time if you decide to go for your little DS first bday!

We have gone 3 times in the last 7 years with a 1 year old. Our first trip was a 4 YO DD and 1 YO DS. It was such a great trip - we have gone back every year (except 1) since...adding 2 more kids during that time. Especially in MK, there are TONS of rides that a 1 year old can do. Really each park has about 2-4 rides with a height restriction and the rest anyone can ride. And depending on your 4 year old, she may not want to ride any the "big" rides anyway.

We took our oldest a week after his first birthday and our younger son at 10 months and loved it both times. There is so much that they can do and honestly it helps you see the World in a different light taking them at that age. Both of our boys got their first haircut at Harmony Barbour Shop, which is a great memory for us.

I am looking crossing my fingers and hoping to go again next fall, when our son who is due in August will be just past his first birthday as well!

Both of our trips we've had kids between 1 and 2. This time around we'll have an 11mo. There's a ton of rides they can go on, especially at MK. Obviously, coasters, simulation (Mission Space, Dinosaur, Star Tours), and water rides (i.e. Splash mountain and Kali River Rapids) would be the exception. Child swap is a breeze and is especially fun when you have older kids that can go back on with you the second time.

Anything without a height requirement - which is a huge amount of the rides.

For example, your about 1 yo can ride MK: Peter Pan, Dumbo, Prince Charming's Carrousel, Teacups, Aladdin, It's a Small World, Winnie-The-Pooh, Ariel, Buzz Lightyear, Carrousel of Progress, Tomorrowland PeopleMover, JungleCruise, the Railroad, Riverboat; EP: Spaceship Earth, Nemo, Living with the Land, Mexico; AK: Triceratops Spin, K. Safari, Train; and the Monorail; boats and buses around WDW ;). There is also a playground inside Dumbo and a playground near Splash Mountain. Depending on height, your 4 yo might not be able to ride anything your 1 yo can't.
