I'm trying to decide when to go next year and I know that Jan/Feb is value season and usually has lower crowds. Many people, websites, and guidebooks say it's a good time to go, but there is always the caveat that rides are often closed for rehab during this time of year.

So I'm wondering how far in advance we will know which attractions will be closed next Jan/Feb? Where should I be looking to get this information?

For those of you who have gone during this time of year, how many attractions were closed?

We've been in Jan/Feb for all but one of our WDW trips. It's a great time of year to go!

Usually, one of the water parks will be closed for refurb. Honestly, that's never bothered me because to me, it's too cold to swim that time of year anyway.

I think there's been 1 or 2 attractions closed when we've been. But, honestly, there were more attractions that I was really wanting to see that were closed on our trip last Sept than on any previous trip.

I can't remember off the top of my head when they announce refurb schedules, but you can always check here for information.

IMO, Mouseplanet.com tends to have the poop on rumored rehabs much earlier than other sites. The post a WDW update every Monday morning, which includes an up-to-date rehab schedule.

This past year, the entire Land Pavilion at Epcot was closed to complete the integration of Soarin', and It's A Small World was still down for its extensive renovation. Astro Orbiter and Dumbo also had significant rehabs in January and February.

The prime rehab periods tend to be September to mid-November and January to February. With the vast number of attractions at WDW, you have to expect that 3-4 attractions will be closed for at least several weeks whenever you visit during those periods. They could be attractions you don't care about...or they could be your absolute favorites. :confused3

The current "hot" rumor is that Pirates of the Caribbean could close for several months sometime between the Fall of '05 to the Spring of '06 to get it in tip-top shape before the new film release in the Summer of '06. Stay tuned!
