Riders stuck on Forbidden Journey

I wouldn't presume someone is stupid because they called 911 after being stuck on a ride. People react differently to situations and just because you wouldn't call 911 doesn't mean that someone is stupid who does. Sure, it seems silly if your stuck on a mild ride and sitting in an upright position to call 911. Maybe the person experienced a panic attack. If someones heart starts racing and they feel like they are going to pass out it is a serious situation. We got stuck on space mountain going up a hill. We did have to have workers help us out. Although it probably only took five to ten minutes it is not a pleasant feeling. I didn't consider calling 911, didn't even have a cel phone. I think the most upsetting thing would be if you have children or other family members with you because most of us ( I would think) would be concerned with their safety.

It probably got a lot of attention in the news because of all the publicity HP is getting because it such a new attraction.

Calling 911 if you're really uncomfortable or freaking out is actually a counterproductive thing, although the person might not realize it. Universal, like all other theme parks, has evacuation plans. SheiKra at Busch Gardens even has a little vehicle they can take up the lift hill to evac a few people at a time so they don't have to walk down 200 feet. Unfortunately, the minute you call 911 you involve police, fire fighters, paramedics, etc. and now the park has to deal with that, plus a huge media fiasco, which delays the normally efficient evac process. I'm sure the many previous evacs, which the news media knew nothing about, were much faster and easier than the circus that resulted from this one.

Perhaps the person has a friend/relative that works in the news dep't and thought this was a fasinating story!!!! Maybe they don't go to amusement parks often.
