Will Disney allow us to use rider switch when we travel with her this summer? Mom will be in a wheelchair and has early systems of Alzheimer's. Obviously, she cannot wait alone while we ride some of the rides. I believe the rider switch would be a nice option for us. Thank you for your help.

Attractions that don't have a height restriction do not offer rider switch since all guests are ELIGIBLE to ride. That's the key...eligible. Rider Switch was designed to be used when someone is not eligible to ride, not by their choice but because they don't meet the requirements to ride.
There have been reports of people getting rider switch at an attraction where everyone is eligible to ride, such as HM. But that is a courtesy that may or may not happen at certain attractions because those attractions are not obligated to offer it. You may encounter problems too as rider switch was really designed for children to small to ride. (i.e. Space Mtn has a height requirement so they may not allow it there since it was designed for children too small to ride, not because Grandma doesn't want to ride). Sometimes they do extend it to others, but it's not a guarantee as that wasn't the intent.

You know - I don't often advocate for this, but this is one case where I might say to talk to Guest Relations while you are in the Park.

I'm not saying that they will give a DAS, or any other specific accommodation for your Mom - I don't want to set that expectation. But I think it couldn't hurt to stop by and talk with them, to find out what, if anything, they can do.

Speak with Guest Relations and CMs at the attractions. If it is a ride that offers rider swap and your mother can not/should not ride let them know due to her disability she can not be left alone and the accomidation you are requsting is a rider swap. If the CM says no ask for a manager. It is a reasonable accomidation that unfortunately you sometimes have to fight for even though riderswap is suppose to be for those who can't ride and need a guardian to stay with then including small children and those with disabilities.

another option that I have heard of people saying worked for them in every one waited in line and at the end they were able to switch, This can not happen at some rides, or maybe not at some times but like other have said I would talk to the CM at the ride and see what they can do to accommodate you.

I have also read reports from guests who were allowed to "swap" at or near the boarding area. Since it is not an issue of too short (who aren't allowed in the queue at all), a person who is tall enough but chooses not to ride may be handled differently than baby-swap. Ask the CM when you approach the queue.

Enjoy your vacation!

If she's not going to ride, the DAS will do nothing for them, as the guest with the DAS has to ride.
