After 10 trips to Disney, next summer my mom and I will be taking my almost 2 year old! Can someone give me the low down on rider swap please. I assume some rides that have a single rider entrance might be quicker than doing rider swap. What rides offer single riders? Thanks!

The general process:
  • Take the child with you to the entrance of the attraction and ask the CM for a rider swap. The CM will give you a lanyard and some of the party will enter the queue.
  • The adult(s) that are not riding, can take the child to do other things. The child that is to small to ride will not be allowed into the queue.
  • At some point in the attraction line, you will hand the rider swap lanyard to another CM who will give you the actual rider switch pass. This can be at the FP/standby merge point, near the loading point, etc. It varies between attractions. Just ask the CM when you get the lanyard and they'll tell you were to hand it in. That pass is good for up to three people to ride that attraction using the FP line later that same day (the passes are dated and have the attraction name written on it).
You can get a rider switch pass whether you wait in the FP line or the standby line. The party that rides later will use the FP line to bypass the majority of the wait time, but they will still have to wait however long the FP line is at that point. Some guests have said the CM did not ask to see the child, but others have said they had to have the child with them, so I would plan on taking the little one with you to the attraction entrance. As far as I know, rider switch is only available for attractions with height limits.

In terms of FP versus SRL, it can go either way. I do think, in general, that SRLs are faster, but not always. The one fairly consistent example is RSR. For that one, the SRL seems to be shorter than the standby, but longer than the FP. The other drawback to the SRL is that you cannot request a specific row or seat in an attraction vehicle.
