Can someone explain to me how Rider Swap works? I'm completely new at it. I think I've got the general idea down, but has it changed with the new FP+ system going in to effect? If you have a FP+ reservation does that mean DH and ODS get to ride it while I stay with the 2 year old and then I ride it by myself or does my son get to ride it again with me? Do we all need the same FP+ reservations for this? In other words can they get a FP+ for Splash Mountain and use it while I get a separate FP+ for, let's say, the Magic Carpets and ride it with the 2 year old and then come back to Splash Mountain and ride it with DS again using the Rider Swap pass (does this put us in the FP+ line)? Would that be taking advantage of the system or is that how many families do it? Do the youngest and I have to stand in line with my DH and ODS the first time around? I feel like I'm more confused about this than I should be and am over thinking it. Please inform me in any way you can. :)

I didn't think about this with the new FP system. Before, you just got the riders swap ticket from the CM. The CM would give you as many riders swap tickets as you need. Hopefully someone knows.....

You still get the rider swap pass from the cm, just like always, and the pass is still good for 3 people.

The second rider set should only need the RS pass to ride.

One thing I read said you have to use the rider swap pass immediately and wait by the ride for the first party to finish and another that I read said I could use the rider swap anytime later in the day. Which one of these is correct?

IME, you can use it any time during the day. There is no time printed in it, so cms would have no way of knowing when you got it. We usually just used it right away, but I think there were occasions that we came back later

The second one.

So does this mean that I could get a FP+ for my DH and DS for BTMR, get a rider swap for it, and then get a FP+ for myself for POTC and ride it with my 2yo while they do BTMR and come back later and do BTMR with my 5yo?

Is this what most people do or is it considered to be an abuse of the system? I feel like the little one shouldn't have miss out on rides and wait around for his big brother to do stuff. But I'd like to ride the fun stuff too.

I did something just like this on my trip in October. We had FP+, 2 parents, an under 40 inch DS3 toddler, and DD6 year old. We successfully did the following several times:

- We made a FP+ reservation for 10-11 at Space Mountain for Mom and DD6 .
- We also made a 10-11 FP+ reservation for Buzz for Dad and DS3.
- All of us presented ourselves at SM FP+ entrance and requested Rider Switch.
- Mom and DD6 rode space via the FP+ queue while Dad & DS3 rode Buzz via its FP+ queue, utilizing our MagicBands.
- We then presented Rider Switch ticket at SM FP+ entrance and Dad and DD6 rode SM while DS3 and mom waited in SM exit arcade. We did not have to scan our Magicbands at this second entrance to the SM FP+ ride queue.

According to some, its encouraged by CMs (see post 3 here).

Thank you so much! I think that clears everything up. I feel much better about doing that now. I'm not one to try to abuse the system if it would take away from others but this doesn't seem to be the case. Now I've got more planning to do. Not that it bothers me to do so. I'm just sitting at home in NC waiting on snow to start. This will give me a nice break from grading AP government tests. :P Thanks again!
