Rider Swap Rules Question

My upcoming trip will be my first time using rider swap and I think I finally have it down. But I thought of a question and can't seem to find a direct answer- can I use rider swap to avoid waiting in line with my 1.5 year old for 30+ minutes? My guess is that it's only supposed to be used with a child who doesn't want to or cannot ride a particular ride but I just want to be sure.

I'm only specifically thinking of Frozen which is his new favorite and I know he'd LOVE the ride but there's NO way he'll stay in a line for 30+ minutes without torturing us and everyone around us. If two of us waited in the regular line and two of us were able to get a rider swap, could we bring my son on the ride with us once our first party returned? I don't want to seem like I'm trying to skirt the rules if that's not how it should be used.

There is no height requirement for Frozen Ever Afer, therefore they don’t normally do rider swap for that ride. Maybe bring a snack in line, allow him to watch something. Depending on when your going Fastass saved us from standing in line

I'm guessing a one and a half year old will be in a stroller? How about a video, on low enough that only he can hear it.

Strollers unless verified at Guest Relations as a "stroller used as a wheelchair", is not allowed through lines in any of Disney ride lines.

So if for example Tron is open late next year, my husband and I will want to ride it but I’m sure our 6 year old will be too short.

I can request ride swap on that basis, wait in line (for probably hours) and then once I’m done my husband can just go on joining the fast pass line?

I guess this is done at each individual ride and both people doing the swap has to approach the cast member to start with?

Rider swap is used for when a person doesn't want to ride, or cannot ride for various reasons. It is not to eliminate waiting in line.

And that person who can not ride needs someone to stay back with them. The swap happens so that the person who stayed back can then go ride without a full wait, while the non-rider is stays with the person who did ride the first round and waited.

OP, you don't have anyone who can not ride since you are talking about rides for the child, not because the child is too small and won't be riding. That would not qualify for child swap. If there is FP+ by time your trip happens I suggest you get one for those rides you are concerned about.

Yep understood! We are already long back from that trip in question (actually just went back a 2nd time last week) and properly used rider swap.

Yeah, we discovered that attractions with no height limit can't do rider swap. My youngest was having a meltdown in line for Tiki Room and they said they couldn't do rider swap for Dad to come back without waiting in line again.

In October, I got in the Frozen line with 15 month old while my husband was riding Soarin. This was the end of the night. They were telling people it was 90 minutes to discourage them getting in line. It only took about 40-45 minutes. I had fruit snacks and a phone with videos and we made it through the line just fine. If you hit it at park opening, you can have small waits.
