Rider Swap Question

I'm going with my sister and her family. It will be 6 "adults" and 2 babies. Her and I are linked in MDE, but not our families, which is fine with me I don't want to manage everyone. My question is, do we all need to be linked in order to use Rider Swap?

I'm thinking of getting FP for 3 of us on EE and 3 on Dinosaur and rider swapping for the other 3 on each ride. Will that work, or do we all need to be linked in MDE? Actually, I'd want 4 to ride EE at once so we can sit together so I'm not sure how I'd get that to work.

I wouldn't think you'd need to all be linked in MDE for the rider swap since they have to scan each band to add the rider swap to it. I can't say for sure though.

If you're wanting to ride in even numbers, get there early in the FP window. Get the rider swaps added, then only send 2 of the people with FP through the line. When they return, the 3 with rider swap can go through with the last person who has a FP. You'd have a group of 2 and a group of 4 for each ride. Just make sure the first group gets in line early enough to return before the FP window ends so the other FP holder can use their FP.

With 6 adults, I’d probably just stagger the FPs a bit and ride in two groups. No swap necessary. Or just arrive at the beginning of the window. That should give you plenty of time for both parties to ride.
