Rider swap question

I know that traditionally rider swap is used for people with children who are not tall enough to ride, but could it be used for a special needs child who is tall enough but is unaware/uninterested in riding?
I will be in the World in June with my sister and her three special needs kids. The 6 year old is autistic and we are not sure how much he will be interested in rides and such. It is pretty much guaranteed he will not be riding RNRC, TOT, or any of the mountains. With two adults and three kids, it looks like one adult will have to stay with the youngest.
Does anyone know if we would be able to use rider swap?
Thanks!

I do not see why not. My daughter is 8 and certainly tall enough to ride most rides, but she will not do many of them. So we did rider swap last visit.

It really depends on the CM when dealing with taller kids (some have refused). However you may be able to get a GAC that allows for such things and lets the little guy hang out in a quieter area when waiting for a ride he will actually ride.

We just returned from a trip to Orlando with our 23 year old DD with Down Syndrome. We were able to use rider swap whenever she didn't want to ride something (ANYTHING even remotely scary) and they were always very accommodating (both WDW and Universal). Definitely visit guest service on your first day in the parks and inquire about a Guest Assistance Card (Guest Assistance Pass at Universal).
