Rider Swap Details

Hello everyone,
I was hoping to get some detailed information on current rider swap policies since I've been seeing conflicting information from various sources. Some sources say that in the standby line, the non-rider is given a pass for three people which can be used during the day any time, and they are free to leave the line. Others seem to say that this only applies when using fastpass (or I guess now, fastpass+), and for the standby line, the non rider must wait there and can then go on the ride with one other person. Can anyone give me any idea of what the current policy is? Does it vary by ride? If it matters, the rides we plan to use it on are Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Dinosaur, Soarin, Test Track, and Star Tours. Thanks for any help you can give!
Matt

Thanks so much for the info! So are these paper passes given out for both standby and fastpass lines? Disney's site doesn't mention any pass and says you have to wait and then may take one extra person. Is this incorrect?

The disney website is incorrect (it's actually incorrect about a lot of things.)

You can see what the pass looks like by doing a google image search for "rider switch pass."

We were just there from the 17-21. We did ride swap at every park and were never required to have the non-riders stand in either the stand-by or fast pass line.

So sad that Disney can't get their website right! But I'm glad they're wrong on this, good news! How soon in the standby lines are you typically given the pass so the non riders can leave?

Anyone who is too short to ride is not allowed into the line at all.

The child swap person will be right at the entrance, just ask. Just make sure everyone goes up together, then the non-riding people can go on their merry way. We used the pass later in the day, maybe half of the time.

Thanks so much for the info! So much more helpful than the Disney site!
A few more questions if you don't mind -
1. Is the pass always good for three people?
2. Why is Disney's site wrong? Was there a time it used to work that way, where you had to actually wait there and could only bring on 2 total?
3. For those who have used FP+ once the legacy FP was gone, how have you found it? I was really disappointed to find that regular FP was gone. Planning things out, I guess it still works okay but will probably cost us a ride on Soarin and a few on Splash Mountain. That one was always so great to get lots of passes for. Also, Disney says you can change your FP+ the day of, but I'm guessing there's absolutely nothing good left then. Is this the case?
Thank you!!
