Rider Swap clarification

I know there are so many of these but I just want to be clear b4 I change our FP+s.

Currently, I have FPs for the whole family (5) for a few rides that I know my youngest DS will not be able to ride. I realize now (wish I would have months ago! rookie mistake!) that I should have just done 1 adult's FP and the 2 older boys at these rides and saved the other adults & youngest DS's FP for something else - right? SO, help me make sure I have this totally clear. If DH & 2 older DSs have FP for say BTMN, we all enter ride and request a Rider Swap pass since youngest DS is too small. Then he & I can leave and go do something else? Then I can come back at anytime and ride using the pass? And when I do so, can i bring BOTH boys who are tall enough and who already rode with dad? Or can I only bring one passenger with me?

And to be clear, me & littlest do not have to wait right there the whole time and then immediately go on the ride right when the others are thru? When I do return, do we go into the FP queue bc we have the rider swap pass? Or is there a separate queue altogether?

Sorry so many questions!!!! And thanks for your help!

You and youngest DS need to be present at the FP entrance with the rest of your family in order to get the rider swap. At that point you and DS can go do what you want. You can return later to ride, you can take 2 others with you and enter through the FP entrance. Instead of doing the magic band you will show the CM your rider swap pass.

I was so confused to do this on our last trip but it is not difficult at all! The CM's are so helpful and will talk you through it too.

Yup - you have it exactly right. You all need to be there at the entrance so the CM can see the too-small child, but then you and the youngest can go have fun somewhere else. You and the youngest can use a FP for a little kid ride while the bigs are riding a big-kid ride, or you can use your fp for a big kid ride also and DH and the older boys can ride it with a babyswap.

The babyswap pass will have an expiration date listed on it - typically the end of the month and it is good for 3 people. So anytime you want you and the two older boys can return and ride the ride with just the baby swap. You go to the fastpass lane and hand in the babyswap pass instead of scanning your magic bands.

Hope this helps!

This is the second time I've seen someone say the return by time/date is the month-end! Its been a while since we've been… I'd love to hear that this is really the case because it would GREATLY relax our touring style!

When we went in June, it worked like DopeyDame said.

I'll use Soarin' as an example. I was unsure, so I made FP+ for me, DH, and older DS. We all went to the FP+ line at Soarin', then DH and DS swiped their FP+ while I took the littles to the Lion King movie. DH got a ticket that said up to 3 people could have a FP to Soarin' anytime until the end of June. So, in other words, I didn't need a FP+ to Soarin' (I could have made mine for Test Track, but then I would have had to ride it alone the first time, which I didn't want to do anyhow).

How does it work with regular lines (e.g.: non fast pass lines)? If I am with my DH, DS and baby do I have to wait with them the whole time in line, wait for them to finish the ride and then switch places with DH?

No it's the same. No one can wait in line who isn't tall enough to ride. Although children who are borderline may be allowed to wait and then denied the ride at the end.

It works exactly the same way. The only difference is that the first group of people get in the regular line instead of the fast pass line. The second group uses FP line with the babyswap pass.
