Rider Swap and Maxpass

We have two adults and a toddler coming in during president’s day weekend. I’m trying to figure out if we should both get Maxpass or just 1; I mean can we actually hold 2 different fastpasses for the same time and use rider switch? Like one of us has space mountain at 10 and the other has splash at 10 and we try to make it to both in the time frame?? Of course with a toddler we probably won’t get a bunch of rides in anyway but just looking for opinions. We have been before but before the toddler has born; however we are passholder day WDW so we are familiar with their FASTPASS system not so much for Disneyland.

Yes, you could for one person but having maxpass for both of you would allow you to book fp for two different rides at the same time as you said, for instance, book 1 fp for star tours, 1 for space for the same time. Then when the you are allowed to book more then you hold even more fp/rider switch passes. You may end up not using some fp depending on your lo! I changed my strategy to booking fp for rides near each other so that we aren’t running all over the place.

It depends how many rides you want to do together. MP is good for some non height restricted rides the toddler could go on with you both. Rides like Toy Story, It's a Small World, Haunted Mansion. If you don't both have MP you wouldn't be able to ride these rides together besides waiting in the normal line.

You can hold more than one FP at a time per person like you described (although I suggest trying to stagger it a little bit as sometimes it's takes up to 30 minutes to go through the FP line and ride the attraction, times two people when you rider switch, that's an hour).

It's important to note, however that each person may only hold one rider switch pass at a time... you have to redeem your rider switch before getting a new rider switch (or you can let the first one go and be replaced with the new one).

Also some rides offer FP but not Rider Switch (like Toy Story, Buzz Lightyear, Roger Rabbit, Haunted Mansion), so it would be nice for you to both have MaxPass so you can ride it all together.

Can't they just pull paper FP for those specific rides? Or would the return times not match up if one of them has MP? I've never tried this I just assumed that if someone has MP but chooses to pull a paper FP that their return time would match whatever the machines are distributing at that time.

The times may not always match up. With MP you are able to get ones that have been cancelled, where the machines do not do this. Quite often on our trip we were able to get a much earlier time through MP than the current FP distribution time listed a the machines.

I have also experienced that you can get an earlier return time through MP, and I believe this is because you have access to FP that others have cancelled. But do you know if that also holds true if you pull paper FP instead of using MP? I haven't tried myself, but I've seen a lot of people on here talk about purchasing MP for just one member of the group for the photo benefits and not using it for digital FP at all, and I can't imagine how that would work if you can't pull paper FP with a return time that matches the rest of the group.

You can pull paper instead. But it’s a hassle with a toddler.

I would only get it for one of you. I'm at the parks now, finished day 3 of our week, and with MaxPass we've been able to get more fast passes than we could possibly use. Because it takes twice as long to do each adult ride having to rider switch, and also all the non-fast pass rides you'll want to do, plus eating, diaper changes, shows, and photos ops. Not to mention that you can pull more fast passes sooner with maxpass. For the rides that do take fast pass that you will actually do all together, either ride them standby first thing in the morning, or simply pull paper fast passes for all of you.

The FP rides tend to be rides the toddler can't do anyway. I'd just do MP for one person (this will also get Photopass for your group) and use Rider Swap for the other person to ride.
