The last few trips my parents have been with us and we've all been able to trade watching the baby while the other kids ride. Our oldest kids are 8, 5, and 3, and all are 42"+. The only ride the 3yo couldn't go on last time was the Incredicoaster I think. This coming trip, no parents so it's just us and the kids. If one of us were to take our 3 kids of height on space, for example, can the 8 and 5 year old ride together in a row, or is it just that the 8yo can ride alone? I can't remember the rules because it's never been a problem before. If both 5 and 3 need an adult with them, what other rides will this pose a problem on? Splash should be fine, BTMRR they can be 3 in a row with 8yo by herself, any others I'm missing? Thanks!

Not your exact scenario, but hope this helps: I have a 5 year old who is tall enough for everything and a 4 year old who is above 42”. I’ve had pretty good luck riding with them. We either sit 3 in a row, or I sit with the 4 year old, and the 5 year old sits in the row ahead, or they sit together and I sit behind.

We’ve done almost everything the 4yo can do this way - the dark rides, the boat rides, Dumbo, Astro orbiter, Soarin, Grizzly River, you name it. Here are a few specifics.

The ride that we cannot do 3 together is Matterhorn because an adult must be sitting directly behind the kid. So another adult has to be riding, or we do rider swap.

On Splash they had me sit with the 4yo side by side in the back row (seats 6/7) with the 5 yo in front of us in seat 5.

I’m pretty sure I’ve ridden Space sitting next to the 4yo, with the 5yo sitting in front of me. We’ve ridden Thunder Mtn 3 across. Goofy’s Sky School was no problem.

A few I can’t answer for: never tried Buzz or Midway Mania this way, and since they’re only 2 per car and the rows are kind of separated, not sure if they’d let the 5 yo go alone in a row or not. Also, I think it’s only 2 per car on Autopia so that might not work.

It’s age 7 where you can ride alone, and if you’re under 7, you need someone 14+ with you.

As mentioned by @dieumeye, many rides are fine with the adult riding next to OR behind the smaller kiddos. I took my daughter and two nieces on the Falcon, for instance, and I just had to ride in the second row so they were all in front of or next to me.

In addition to Matterhorn, one that you can’t do is Gadget’s Go-Coaster.

A no-go for a 5 year old in their own Buzz car or Toy Story car. I have seen the ride stopped as families are forced to rearrange when it is found that there are under-7s in cars with no one old enough actually in the same car with them.

Thanks! That’s the rule I couldn’t remember the specifics of

Buzz or TS are ok for us though because we can take the baby and have two adults - it’s the height restricted ones I was worried about. My scores are pretty poor holding a baby though. Haha!
