I saw HydroGuy's review of Ridemax and he mentioned doing data dumps from Ridemax into excel. What's the general process to export ride data? Presumably you can't just click "export to excel", since the data is proprietary.

Making up some best-fit curves out of ride-wait data would be useful for us, whereas pre-designed itineraries work less well for us.

Thanks!

RideMax is concerned about keeping their data safe. Not that you are asking for the data, but for everyone's info it is not cool to post RideMax data. Getting data from RideMax can be done. I will not give you a step-by-step, but will send you a PM with a general outline of its data format. If you know how to move data around and write curve fitting routines, you can figure it out from there.

So look for a PM.

Yes, I'm a database wonk, and I specialize in working with clients who have proprietary business data. I really don't want to expose their data model or the information that went into it because the product represents a massive amount of work for them.

What I'm trying to use the product to do is create a visual representation of something like TGM's "best times to visit this attraction". Obviously, it would be for personal use only and not be distributed.

Thank you very much for the PM. I think that I will be able to use Ridemax for my purposes without a problem. The most negative outcome I foresee is that I might need to use slightly older data than would really be desired since my time immediately before the trip will be tight. Or fiddle with it in the hotel room at night or something.

Thanks again!

I, too, wanted to get a general curve for wait times and found a way to figure it out. Feel free to PM me if you still need help.

I also recently purchased Ridemax, and was planning to extract the data for my personal use (thanks, Hydroguy for the idea). JennyW and Hydroguy- could you PM me as well with anything pointers you found helpful? Thanks!

Can either HydroGuy or JennyW send me a PM with tips related to using the data from RideMax to graph per ride wait times?

Thanks,
Bret

I've also bought ridemax, so can I please get a PM too. I promise I'll only use it for good, not evil ;) :rotfl:

Probably the easiest thing to do is just to run some itineraries with rides you are interested in, and then look at wait times each hour and note that in a table. You can add a ride more than once to a RideMax itinerary, so you can see it's wait times for each time it shows up in the itinerary.

I know everyone here is only interested in personal use, but RideMax has always been concerned the data will be tabulated by someone and posted somewhere. I think you understand why, and so just be careful to keep data that you might tabulate to yourself.
