My little one will only be 30 inches when we go on our trip next month - I've read on this site about the rides he may not be able to go on, but I wonder if any of them make exceptions if they attend with a parent (like Bugs Life, or Buzz Lightyear, etc...ya know some of the slow rides) - he was really looking forward to those from pictures and my older sons talking about them.

I figure since I'll be 17 wks pregnant (again - just as I was our first trip in '03) I can stay behind with him while the other boys and DH enjoy the rides...but, I was still hopeful some wouldn't be so restrictive based on size alone.

I mean, seriously...do they only restrict due to their height in A Bug's Life because they won't be able to feel the floor when the simulated bugs start crawling - or do they also restrict it because the smaller ones will likely also be scared? (even though mine absolutely isn't scared of a thing)

You can take your child on any ride without a height restriction, including a Bugs life at MGM and Buzz lightyear at MK. Neither has a minimum height but a bugs life can be very sacary for kids. (The Buzz LIghtyear Pinball ride at Disney Quest does have a height restriction).

Here is a height calculation here at the Dis:

And another good list of height restricted rides:

Although the rides with a restriction don't make exceptions most of the rides at the 4 major theme parks don't have any height restrictions.

Well said! MOST do not have restriction heights. I don't think it will be much of an issue at all. For the most part only the rollercoasters, bigger rides have restrictions.

I will say my almost 4 year old was extremely scared of A Bug's Life! I would have never imagined it, he loves Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain but just did not care for that at all. I think he didn't get that it was just an illusion, we even had him take the glasses off, thank goodness we were at the end of the row and just ended up leaving, he wasn't crying or anything but we could easily see he was not comfortable and scared of it! He did see Honey I Shrunk the Audience and Muppets, both more or less without the glasses on. He wasn't sure of some of the parts though.
