Ride Recommendations?

My husband and I are going to visit both parks (one each day) for two days for the first time. We don't have any kids and have never been to any Universal theme parks before. Can you all tell me what the good rides to go on while we're there? I don't want to waste my time in line for rides that aren't worth it.

It's a little difficult to say which rides are "worth it" because everyone has an opinion. In my opinion, all the rides are fun and worth it but that's my take...you may not agree. Your best bet would be to look at the website for ride descriptions and YouTube for ride videos so you can get an idea of what each attraction would be like. Check out: www.universalorlando.com

Yep, have to agree with Metro on this one, "worth it" is SO subjective. I am personally very fond of coasters & simulators, but NOT of drop towers, so I did Doom once, and never again. But I love Hulk, Spidey, Jurassic Park, Forbidden Journeys, Hippogriff, Dragon Challenge, Cat in the Hat on the IOA side (was not a fan of Bilge Rat Barges, though I might like it better on a really HOT day). On the Studios side, haven't ridden RRR or Despicable Me yet (planning to this weekend), but like Mummy, MIB, Simpsons, ET. I have heard really good things about the Horror Makeup show and Beetlejuice as well. Shrek was cute. But it really depends on what kind of rides/shows YOU like.

It does depend on what kind or person you are if your a roller coaster fan then I recommend the Hollywood rip ride rocket in universal studios it's not just your usual roller coaster you choose the song you want to listen to whilst your on the ride plus you get recorded whilst on the coaster and you can watch it and purchase it afterwards it's a lot of fun.
Plus the hulk roller coaster is a classic in islands of adventure it's goes from 0-40 in two seconds flat, very fun and worth the que,
One of my favourites is Popeyes barges its a huge raft were you soar down waves and hills of water and get drenched really fun and even though your soaked in the Florida heat your dry within ten minutes

The new Harry potter world you cannot ever miss! I have been going to these parks for years however it was my first time to Harry potter last year in islands of adventure and it was breathtaking it looked so real and was unbelievable the dragon challenge is two different roller coasters in one it's brilliant.

In universal studios it is more shows than rides the best ones no matter who you are is bettlejuice's graveyard revenue it's singing dancing and fireworks its great however I recommend getting there 20 minutes before show time to get a good seat if you get on the ground seating they come out to you and may even talk to you if you get picked.

And my all time favourite the horror make up show in universal studios it's really fun and interesting plus it's comedy I was crying of laughter when I came out every year!

The greatest ride I would have to say in universal studios is the mummy ride it's a indoor roller coaster with dark twists and it feels like your apart of the movie lots of fun!

Sorry I didn't specify more. By "worth it" I just wanted to avoid rides that have long lines, but aren't worth all the hype. I've never been to WDW or Universal, but go to Disneyland often. So, using this park... there's usually longer lines at the Fantasyland rides (Peter Pan, Mr. Toad's, Snow White) though they aren't amazing rides... classic yes, but not "worth it" in my opinion when you're only going for one day.

My husband and I like the roller coasters and he loves the interactive rides (Buzz's Astroblasters, Star Tours, Toy Story Mania), so I was thinking more rides like these.

You all have given me some great suggestions so far and I like the idea of checking them out on YouTube. I didn't think of that. Thanks.

Based on what you've mentioned here, this is what I would put on your "Not to miss" list:

At Islands of Adventure: The Incredible Hulk, Dragon Challenge, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, and The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man.

At Universal Studios: Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem, Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, Revenge of the Mummy, Men in Black: Alien Attack and The Simpsons Ride.

Again, there are some great rides that I left out here (notably the water rides at IOA), but this is just a list to get you started. Enjoy your trip!!

From what you've posted, you can easily avoid the Cat in the Hat area at IOA. -cute YES, especially if you have kids, but since you don't I would leave it for last or take a second ride on Flying Journey.

If you have to pick one water ride Ripsaw Falls is my choice, you'll get wet, but on the barge you will get soaked! Ripsaw is really fun and a good way to cool off without taking the shower you get on the barge.

At IOA I'll add Jurassic Park River Adventure to the list of don't miss rides.

I like the above list too. However I love the Dr Seuss area even though I don't have little kids. It's so whimsical and charming.

I might also add Disaster if the line isn't insane. It's not up to the level of some but Christopher Walken is a hoot and the ride itself is interesting.

Yes....some people do....

I think this is my DH's favorite part of our entire stay, he aims for other "dads" that maybe didn't get a big enough splash, you know the dad who's usually laughing at his teenager in the very front and how they got soaked.
