Beginning June 3 2014, select attractions will automatically link the on-ride guest photos to the My Disney Experience account of the rider. The attractions offering this will be:

Dinosaur
Expedition Everest
Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin
Space Mountain
Splash Mountain
Test Track
Rock n Roller Coaster
Tower of Terror

WDW Magic has more info.

Interesting! I'm guessing you will have to "show" your band to something unless you have a fastpass in which case you will be zapped in and then it will link. :confused3

We have PP+ (purchased before the change and I've just kept what I bought). Obviously not being linked to MDE, it won't auto scan, but this is good news as it will reduce the number of people in line at the photo redemption counter :cool1:

I know on Test Track it does it by your MagicBand when you scan it as you get on the ride but I think it recognises the ID in the bend using the long range frequencey readers so I don't think you will need to scan your band. Presumably those without MagicBands will still need to have their pictures added manually though.

Of course, the next question is ...... do we trust Disney's technology not to lose photos :scratchin

It's using the long range scanning functionality of the MM+ system

you don't need to show or scan your magic band.
there are scanner that will detect your magic band at some point on the ride (most possibly quite close to the camera that takes the picture) and associate the picture to the bands of those on the ride vehicle

A Magic Band is supposed to be linked to a MDX account. Even for offsiters who purchase them, they're linked by the CM at checkout.

The long range feature is not available with RFID tickets, so indeed, those without a magic band will still need to go to the shop

Disney will probably advertise that, without a MB, you're missing out. That's $12.95 in cash easily earned for the mouse.
so anyone who stays offsite in the next couple of years, and who already have a magic band from a previous visit, don't forget to pack it.

So do I risk it working or do I manually get them added anyway - don't think I trust Disney IT enough yet ;)

Does this mean that they will upload the pics to view and can buy online? Only done photopass once and did not utilise it properly

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

They will only be added to your account if you have purchased a memory maker package.

From what I get, they are all uploaded to your account anyway. You will be able to see all of your pictures but as thumbnails and very low res.

Disney wants you to purchase your pictures, hence Disney gives you a chance to download a ride picture even after you leave the park.

Memory maker is just a package allowing you to download all of your pictures for a set price. Basically it's like the photoCD.

Remember that you can still buy Memory Maker, during or even after your trip (for $199) just like you used to be able to purchase the photoCD after your trip.
So, in order to determine if they want to buy the pictures, guests need to be able to review them

hope it makes sense.

According to the information on WDW Magic they will only be automatically added to the guests accounts who already have a MM linked.

They will still have the screens and purchase points as before for everyone else.

As this is only just starting I will wait and see before stating anything else as this is the only information I have seen so far.
