Ride order for both parks

What order would you recommend for the rides/attractions in each park?

My neighbour will be heading to US and IOA in October and has never been. I'm trying to help her but have not been myself since 1999 and I only went to US. They will be staying at WDW so will not have FOTL.

Heres what I do:

1. The Mummy
2. MIB
3. MIB
4. MIB
5. MIB

47. MIB

Then I might switch it up and do some water rides so:

48. Ripsaw Falls
49. MIB
50. Popeye
51. MIB
52. Jurassic Park
53. MIB (Yes, I do walk between both parks multiple times).
54. MIB
55. MIB, ect

Seriously though, during summer the regular lines get pretty long. When I was there last week on Wednesday, the Hulk was 50 minutes, Spiderman was 75 minutes, and Ripsaw Falls was 75 minutes. So if they are trying to do everything, get there when it opens, then do Hulk, Spiderman, Ripsaw Falls, and then Dueling Dragons. The waits for the rest of the rides don't get as bad.

For Universal, they should probably do Mummy, MIB, and The Simpsons early. Also if they are doing rides for kids, the Nickelodeon one gets crowded really early because it is the nearest attraction to the entrance.

So those are the rides they should do earlier. Some people will suggest that you start from the rides farthest away, and then work your way back to the entrance. If they get there at park open though, they should be able to do the closer rides with little wait, and then make it to other rides with little waits.

We got to ride Dueling Dragons a few times before there was even a queue and then going round to Jurrassic Park it felt like we were one of the only ones in the park. We didn't see many people until we got round to Ripsaw (which was a long queue i give it that). I think most people go round clockwise.
We then did some of the big rides at US so that we could fit everything in when we went back. When we started at US we went straight for Mummy and enjoyed no queues then onto Disaster and Jaws (again no queue).

Sounds like a good plan to me only...IF the HR3 is open, you will definately want to go there first...otherwise...you won't get on it.

When we were at IOA, we put on ponchos and did all of the wet rides in a row, in order of wetness:
- One Fish, Two Fish
- Jurassic Park
- Dudley Do-Right's Rip Saw Falls
- Popeye & Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges

It was November. We didn't get too hot wearing the ponchos between those rides. We were staying at Hard Rock Hotel, though, so we could use the express lines.

I suppose I should mention that youngest teenage nephew was too cool for a poncho and was soaked by the time we were done.

So I take it you like MIB ?

For years, our tradition was to arrive at USF when the park opened and head straight toward Back to the Future. (All please stand and observe a brief moment of silence. )
Now that obviously can't be done, so I like to hit Mummy early in the morning, and then swing over to MIB & Simpsons. After those priorities, we make another round hitting other attractions.

For IOA, Hulk & Spiderman first thing.

We always go around USF clockwise (starting @ Jimmy/Shrek and ending up at Terminator 2-3D) But of course if you want to get the rides with the biggest crowds done first, that's always a good plan.

The same goes for IOA, we usually start at Marvel Superhero Island and finish in Suess Landing. However, as I mentioned above, if you're looking to get the crowd favorites out of the way, it's always best to hit them early.

Also, if you're still there when it's dark, be sure to ride JAWS and the other outdoor rides. Very different experience during the dark

Unless you are staying onsite waiting for the Simpsons insures a long wait.

We hurried over to the Simpsons first thing in the morning and walked right on. Later on was another matter...

We did pretty much the same as everyone else but we were thrown a few curves. Shrek tending to get busy early and I hate the line there when it's hot. We also saw a 45 minute wait for Disaster! We came back a few hours later and it was down to 20 minutes.

I recently returned from US and IOA in July. My family and I stayed off-site near Disney from June 29-July 5. We had the 7-day ticket and easily got on everything with very short waits. If I had to give an order of how to do the attractions here's what they would be:
Universal Studios
1) Jimmy Neutron (the line gets long very quick, by noon it was 45 minutes)
2) Shrek (also line gets VERY long early, 45 minutes by noon)
3) Twister (line was never longer than 15 minutes, however we walked right on)
4) Mummy (moderate waits all day, 5 minutes until about noon, then 25 minutes by 5:00)
5) Disaster (30 minute waits all day, you may have to wait a few times before you even are able to get inside the buliding)
6) Jaws (lines not too long during the day, no longer than 20 minutes, if you do decide to ride at night, do NOT wait until near park closing because we ran into the problem of waiting in a 45 minute line with only two boats running)
7) MIB (go through the single-rider line, you walk right on and you don't have to wait outside)
8) The Simpsons (I am not a fan of the show, but this ride was a lot of fun, we were lucky to only wait in line for about 10 minutes, however the queue is very congested and hot)
9) E.T. (15 minute lines all day)
10) Terminator 3-D (queue is entirely indoors, very cool inside)
Then you have time to visit your favorites again. My advice is just follow the lake around and you will hit everything.

IOA
1) Hulk (line gets long early and usually stays long until dusk)
2) Spider-Man (line gets long early, use single-rider when line is longer than 25 minutes)
3) Dr. Doom's FearFall (unless you have a fear of heights, line is rarely longer than 30 minutes, if longer, use single rider)
4) Dudley-Do-Right's RipSaw Falls (when I was here, the line was 100 minutes!! Use single-rider if line is longer than 30 minutes; note: logs are now equipped with lap bars, which make it VERY difficult for larger people and people with long legs to get in and out)
5) Popeye and Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges (line was about 25 minutes, you WILL get SOAKED, not just wet!!!)
6) Jurassic Park River Adventure (line no longer than 25 minutes)
7) Dueling Dragons (line only 10 minutes, but it takes 10 minutes just to get to the ride, with no one in line)
If you have young kids then you can ride the CITH (Cat in the Hat) and the Trolley ride.
