Ride Openings

I will be at Disney May 3-8th and heard that the well known Seven Dwarfs Mine is set to open the 2nd of May. I never really been to Disney during a period when a ride was just opening. Can anyone post what it is like to be at a park during a ride open, and what to expect at the ride itself?

Expect long wait times. I'd score a FP A.S.A.P. Sometimes rides break down more frequently when new, this is a possibilty.
I have been to amusement parks that closed down a new ride all morning just so they could film a commercial.
