How do you open free ride lockers? I have read that you scan your thumb but I have also read that you scan your ticket. Which is it?
They used to be finger scanners, now it's all done through a bar code - typically your park ticket. If you have Express, you can also use that barcode. If you use your app as your ticket, the locker attendants can give you a piece of paper with a barcode.
Ummm, it can either be simple or a pain. Depends on how many people are having issues at that time, really. I'd say, most times, we've been able to either walk right up to an attendant and get help or maybe wait for them to help one other person before us.Is it a pain to track down one of the locker attendants if you need to?
That's why you see so many folks wearing lanyards. I'd suggest it if you are able to get a print ticket and especially if you have the express pass.

No, they were gone before covid. They never worked very well, scanning a bar code is much quicker.I'm curious to know why they don't use the finger scanner anymore. Is it because of covid and not wanting to touch surfaces?
They were phasing them out before covid - and they still use the finger scans for park entry - so the two are unrelated.I'm curious to know why they don't use the finger scanner anymore. Is it because of covid and not wanting to touch surfaces?
You can put a ticket in your pocket. Or in a lanyard (removed for the metal detector, then tucked into your shirt).Side question- How do you keep a card or something to open the locker with on rides like Rip Ride Rockit where they have you go through the metal detectors and you can't bring anything with you?
FWIW, you can get cheap smaller lanyards on Amazon. Its like a thin nylon rope/cord rather than the bigger/wider type lanyards they have at Universal. I doubt you'd even feel it.Hmmmm. To lanyard or not to lanyard..... I am going in September and it always really hot in Orlando at that time. I don't think I can stand anything against my neck in that heat. Just thinking about it makes me sweat! I think what we'll probably do is print the ticket and use that to open the locker. I'll figure out some way of carrying it around, whether its in a bag or a cargo short pocket.
The only thing they permit on your person for the metal detector rides are your ticket and express pass. They will permit it in a lanyard or in your pocket.Side question- How do you keep a card or something to open the locker with on rides like Rip Ride Rockit where they have you go through the metal detectors and you can't bring anything with you?
It’s whatever works for each individual and to each his own, but just in my case, when we went a few weeks ago it was crazy hot and I had purchased a UOAP lanyard at the park. (1st trip ever to UO). I found this type of lanyard to be hot and itchy. My daughter had an extra Vera Bradley thin cloth lanyard that I borrowed and wow what a difference!! It was so lightweight and I didn’t feel it on. It was the real skinny one. It just carried my AP and room key/EP in a clear plastic ziplock pouch we had bought from Amazon. I did find great convenience in wearing the lanyard especially with EPs. Made it so easy to scan and move right along without missing a beat. Same with opening lockers. I would imagine the thin rope/nylon lanyards would be similar and hopefully just as comfy in the heat.
Sure! Here’s the link to the clear pouches. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KH178QS?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_shareCould you send a pic and/or link of the lanyard your daughter had and also the ziploc pouch you bought from Amazon? I need to order a pouch and perhaps a lanyard for my upcoming trip and I'm not sure what to get
