Ride Dilemma with Scaredy-Cat family member

omg, i love you!!! thank you... if she can control it, i'm sure that i can convince her to get on it :)

You do control it yourself during MOST of the ride. But at the very end, the ride takes over and the elephants go up to the highest point on their own and then descend to land. So just know that if you choose to stay low the whole ride, at some point the ride will go up to its highest point on its own for a quick second and then descend. Don't want anyone to be freaked out! :goodvibes

no, i'm sure that will be cool. to be honest, she has been the one on the DL website going through all the ride descriptions and making a list of what she likes/doesn't like... my point to her though is that is how someone else is describing it, and that doesn't necessarily reflect how she will feel about a ride...

we are all going together and we have a 'do not split up' rule when we're in theme parks, which could be better characterised as an 'all for one & one for all' kind of motto... which means that if we want to do a ride, she will be standing off to the side, waiting for us to wait in line, ride, then come out.. and during that time, she will have nothing to do but people watch & take pictures... i have done that before at other theme parks, and i know for me, it sometimes can get lonely where you feel that others are having all the fun and it's your own fears that stop you from having the same fun... and to be honest, i don't want her to go and regret anything... i'm sure once we get there, it will all be fine and she'll be so enchanted that she won't let her fears stop her from getting on most of the rides that we do....

but thanks, you guys, for all the feedback and comments... it's really, really helpful.

Does she LIKE taking photos? If so, does she like stuffed animals? If so, I would buy her a Duffy bear from DCA (the cheapest ones are the $8 magnet and I think keychain ones). Then she can take pictures with her Duffy, which I think is really fun. :)
