So my daughter will be a little over 3 1/2 when we go to Disney in November. She's pretty adventurous, last year we went in November and she went on her first ever roller coaster, Goofy's Barnstormer, and she LOVED it.

So I was wondering if this year might be a fun time to try Splash Mountain. I figured since most of the ride is very mild that it could be good.

What's your opinion, is this way too much?

My DD is also 3.5 and I don't think I would try it just yet (with my daughter that is and I'll explain why). I think the drop at the end "might" be too much and if it is she will likely be afraid to go back on the ride again for years. I would rather wait until I think she can handle it and have her try and like it than scare her away from it.

My DH took her on a kiddie roller coaster at Six Flags and she is still talking about it and stating that she doesn't want to go on the "red ride" ever again!

If she is tall enough then why not? I took my kids on BTMRR that young and so did my sister. They loved it!

When we went this May my DS was just turning 3. We went on BTMRR many times throughout our trip. One day when the line was moving quickly we went four times in a row. His big sisters also love roller coasters.

We chose to skip Splash Mtn this trip, but I think he would have been fine. My DD who had just turned 4 rode with DH the year before. She didn't say anything about the drop, but the rest of the ride was pretty awful. There were technical difficulties. We waited for them at the play area for over an hour-- they had fastpasses, but were just stuck on the ride for almost that long.

*A funny aside... when I was a kid my siblings and I convinced my grandma to ride Splash Mtn with us. She passed out before we went over the big drop. The CMs had to revive her to get her out of the log. It was a bit terrifying at the time, but we all (including grandma) think it's pretty hilarious now.

I'm very impressed by preschool BTMRR riders. I had picked Splash Mountain because I thought "one big drop and it's over" so if she hated it, it would be all over in a couple of seconds. But if she was up for BTMRR that would be awesome. Of course, I'm going to be all big and pregnant for this vacation so I wouldn't be going on it with her, but it would be cool if she had a good time with it.

You've definitely given me something to consider.

That Splash mountain story about your grandma sounds just awful. I have actually passed out on a couple of rides before (very fast loop rides) and while it's funny now, at the time I was just super pissed that I missed the ride on account of being unconscious.

Splash Mountain was our just turned 4 year old sons favorite ride with Thunder Mountain right behind. I'm not sure many times we rode the two of them as I lost count!

He also loved Tower of Terror...I hate it, come off trembling and he announces lets do that again before heading back to the entrance.

Our 5 year old is also a ride lover :) If she's tall enough I would take her!

My DD went on both Splash Mountain and BTMRR this May- she had just turned 4 and these were her favorite rides of the whole trip!! She ended up riding each one multiple times in May and it's all she's talked about since!

I am also wondering if we can go the next step up from the kiddi coasters on our next trip with my dd 3.5. I would just stand on the bridge and watch the drop a few times. Then ask her if she wants to go on it. She will tell you one way or the other!

All kids are different, that said we took our DS exactly 3 1/2 on our last trip on Splash (and Thunder) and he LOVED it. Rode over and over, we were ready to move on but he insisted we keep riding. Anytime he passed any splash merchandise he told us he "needed" it cause that was his favorite ride.
